  1. Yeah was good, big turnout, met some good dudes, had good feed - took one photo:
  2. I'll be at boigerfuel meet - wish the hiace was ready I'd rock that.. actually pulled into the carpark today and did a skid in the rain. was great
  3. Trip got canned, had to work plus mrs gran passed away - drama central at the moment Lucky I didn't collect as they would have just made me jealous for their 4x100-ness true, bummer about dramas - are you buying those hiaces, or parts of them?
  4. nahnah I'm not on the snore, I'm in Hillsborough - which is near Onehunga, and just off the "other" motorway - the one that goes to the airport. So I'm closeish to the Mangare pickapart. But I could always meet fuel at the pickapart?
  5. I take it this trip has already been tripped? Got mikuni's new mags here and they are screaming to be put on a car.
  6. yeah man that's what I was thinking too - might get some other parts done in the same colour at the time - brakes, maybe even the block
  7. yeah they are from a city, but they're multi-fit.
  8. cheers dude - chromes aren't really my thing though, I've got some wheels lined up just gotta decide what colour and what kind of coating to put on them. how long ago did you own it?
  9. yeah it's pretty mangled and crushed, but I'll take it out in the weekend and get a better look. The petrol tank needs to be fixed or replaced too, there's a three inch long stab wound to the bottom of it.. is it kosher to weld fix them? obviously needs to be pretty sound so no silicone patch up job or anything right? but yeah can't wait to roll it around, will probably pull out most of the camper interior and use as transport for my drumkit. (the suzuki's only got so much cargo space..) Then later in summer take it for a nice long trip with the missus and the dog.
  10. Yeah that's it - where's that photo from? So with the power of the mighty wikipedia I have determined that the engine is a 2T. edit: Actually it's more likely a 12R
  11. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=20196 Gonna start digging for cancer this weekend to see what's in store, but I reckon it won't be too bad. Aiming to have it ready and providing me with summer camping goodness by early next year, so that should be plenty of time! Pretty sure it's like a 4K engine or something like that? where is the engine number? If anyone has any ideas about driveshaft donors, or anyone know of a wreck sitting somewhere that I could pillage for driveshaft and petrol tank that would be suuuper.
  12. Soooooooooo... here it is!! the seats basically sold it for me: Lots of fun times ahead!
  13. Discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=20216 So it's a bit rough - most of the van looks painted in house paint, (edit: now it's definitely painted in house paint) and there's definitely a fair share of bog lurking under it. The other thing is the rough bastards at work mangled the driveshaft when they picked it up with the hoist, and also the petrol tank has been spiked to recover the petrol. Aside from that and some body work I think it should be pretty sweet, there's heaps of new parts in the back of the van - can't wait for the weekend when I'll get some time to crack into it and see what I've got myself into... So anyone got any hookups for parts for this? Specifically petrol tank and N-S driveshaft. Previous owner mentioned someone called Graham Gordon (?) out on Scenic Drive. Apparently was a BMC dealer or something? Anyone know who this is?
  14. I've had the 800cc F8B up off the clock just over 140. That was going west on the north western past st lukes rd, so a slight downhill I guess.. and right in the early hours - I reckon a nice crisp night helps heaps.
  15. I reckon this is mean and needs 4x spotlights. Would suit it real nice and offset the narrow lights.. something along these lines:
  16. Ok anyway I've got my pipes and am hopefully gonna start chopping them up this weekend. The suzuki is a 3 cyl 800cc beastie - and it will have this modified cam in it: Advertised duration @.004 lifter rise: 282 degrees Duration @ .050” lifter rise: 205 degrees Cam lift: .254” So my question is what kind of length should I aim for for each runner? I'm guessing there's some sort of formula or some such? Anything else should I keep in mind?
  17. yeah that's something i was thinking about doing - tacking together would be fine to do with arc right? Do I want to leave a gap between sections or put them flush against each other? thanks
  18. how do you mean, hard to control and all splattery? It's just that it's all I have access to, would it be impossible to get a good result? And I don't mind having to grind it smooth, as long as it's a strong weld and not too much crap on the inside of the pipe I guess
  19. I'd like to know if it's possible, or advisable to arc-weld pressed steel pipe to make headers? I've got access to these factory honda h22a exhaust manifolds through work for cheap: and was thinking I could just chop up a few sets and put together a few bends into something that could work for the suzuki. will I be wasting my time? Should I just buy pipe from somewhere, or save up some more and get someone else to make up some custom ones. cheers!
  20. nah that's all good I get shit dirt cheap through work anyway, I want to try to use swift gti suspension gear, I reckon that would be sweet. ...and adapt some IRS to replace the leaf spring setup haha!
  21. cheers dude, haha yeah unemployment is mean, but have just got a job dismantling honda parts.. simon: sweet car man - have those CA91s got 12mm or 10mm wheel studs? I'm looking for suitable donor models to upgrade from..
  22. sort of on topic, is anyone a whizz with the ol' electronics who would like to take a look at my Jaycar ignition kit? Couldn't get it working, and then blew a resistor while trying. cheers old chaps
  23. Yeah good to see yas all. Next time I will bring a sweater/not be such a pussy.
  24. yay I'm going to my first OS meet! how exciting! I'll be in the trusty suzuki.
