  1. Ive got this mean vid of you overtaking me on the track. Once you got on to that little bit of straight before the chicane the Gem left the Strada for dust. The video makes it look like we are going really slow thought, haha.
  2. Yeah they arent too bad on the gas if you granny it round. Make sure they are in tune, balanced etc...Thrash it and you will be paying for it.
  3. Yeah I rolled up so late to that track day, good though as I almost had the whole track to myself. Just finished pulling apart and swapping the broken C.V joint, should be good to go tomorrow. Whats your guys thoughts on the Buddyclubs? Yeah/na? I am thinking of painting them white for track day wheels.
  4. Ok got a new engine in the build From factory it has a 2lt Twin cam 8v which makes 130hp/130tourques, hence the name of the car. Here's whats going in......... The head received new guides, 3 angle valve seats, Porting and Polishing. Valves got matching 3 angle cuts. Adjustable pulleys. These are made from machining out early 1 inch wide twincam pulleys and putting in an alloy insert in. Also a pair of Billet camshafts are going in.
  5. Cheers guys, maybe I should have mentioned that those pictures are going though a couple of years, however I still have all those wheels. All going to plan I will have a WOF by Thursday and will be racing at the track day on Monday.
  6. I have a 1984 Fiat Strada 130tc Abarth. Was in goodish condition when I first got it, but had some rust. I got a whole free parts car with it, which was sweet. The engine is currently a stock 2lt 8V twincam with 40mm Solex's and extractors as standard. Koni's in the front and a Nissan Pulsar strut brace to improve handling a bit. Factory leather recaros + factory stereo. Discuss here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=13838 First thing I did was getting the rust fixed and it came back looking like this. Then stripped the paint. This is when it was at the workshop just before getting sprayed Putting it back together. So shiny when I first got it back from the painters! Had no windscreen and no door locks so I tied the door closed for the ride home. Installed Evo 2 Recaros then found they weren't as good as the original Recaros so they got sold. After I put it back together........ Changed the wheels and lowered it. Bit of action at a Fiat Club event New set of wheels.
  7. It's looking good now! What happened with the left side's paint. It didn't used to be that noticeable. Did you primer it? When you repaint it keep the pinstripe! Actually na just cut and polish it hard, the car looks cool with rough paint.
  8. Put some of those old pictures up from when you first got it. When it had mudflaps and shit on it, they were cool!
  9. Monetary wise take your estimated build budget and times it by 3.
  10. Hey I have done this before on my FWD twin cam. If you are a tooth out the engine will as flat as a pancake though the revs. If you go any more than that the valves collide. For a standard twin cam there are markers that line up with engine markers. Up top the two cam wheels have notches on the back of them. These should line up with the notches on the cam boxes. Down below there is a pulley with a marker at around 32 degrees? Cant remember exactly. On the gear box end there is a hole in the housing where you can see the fly wheel. On the fly wheel there is markers, I think the first notch is TDC. And should line up with the marking on the gearbox casing. Put the car in gear and push the whole car to move the flywheel in position. Should check the Haynes manual though,
  11. Have a read of this its quite interesting. http://www.guy-croft.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=254 I got some billet cams for it, Franklin Cams still have billet blanks.
  12. Thats a nice collection of engine bits you have there. I am building an 8v as well but N/A. Are you going to run standard 84mm turbo/supercharge pistons? Are you going to re bore the block? For my engine I have the 84mm 105tc pistons and after reading a lot on the Guy Croft forum I was thinking blow by might become a problem. Thoughts?
  13. 131's are mean! If I was to ever get another oldschool fiat it would be the 131 R. Does the cert cover the 16V head too? May as well make it brutal.
  14. I heard you got the Gem running now? Keen as to go for a burn when I get back!
  15. I probably explained all that like shit, so heres a picture of my fiats steering rack. I think thats your problem; the bush with the red arrow.
  16. I think BnT have them, because my mate used to work there and he had the same problem with his Strada. He actually used a Ford escort bush in his Strada so its very similar to the escort Ask for an 'inner tie-rod bush'. When I did mine I brought the proper bush for $10. Is not too bad job I took the whole steering rack out and replaced the bush. I just followed the Haynes manual.
  17. Where the tie-rod goes into the main tube there is a plastic bush that holds the rod in place in the tube. The broken up plastic is probably the remains of the bush. The bush if fairly small its like a finger ring almost. Should be noted in a Haynes manual if you have got one.
  18. How many K's has it done? I got a whole new clutch kit from BNT for my 130tc which has the samish motor as your 124. + I got the flywheel refaced and the correct step on it at BNT ($40) as well, much cleaner gear changes etc.
  19. Haha Vectras are awful! I used to work for Avis and Holdens are there main cars. Engine went hard though.
  20. True if its to big you will lose the bottom end torque and be slugish low down. Do some research on what those UK guys are running.
  21. If I was doing it again I would be going for the largest 2.5" straight through packed center resonator that I could fit under the car. After that possibly a straight through final muffler with a slight offset in it.
  22. I made a 2.5inch exhaust for my car which is 2lt NA made it go way harder in the top end and makes it more rev happy. I brought the 2 Mandrel U bends, 1m straight pipe and a packed center rensonator. With a straight through final muffler. So if you have got a welder go hard its not too tricky. Its quite loud though (sucks a bit on the motorway even with a 5 speed), a deep sound not a tinny one as some may expect. Never had trouble with a WOF but.
  23. Second though I wonder if you can get a sub board put in for the extra injector drivers. Probably not as bad as it sounds in practice as 8 and 6 use them.
  24. True I didnt know that about the injectors. Only one solution, buy two link g3's. So for the second injector is the fuel wasted or does it just injected before the second cylinder intake valve(s) open? Do you know if Haltech run the same sort of setup? Suppose you wouldnt lose much at high RPm because its all happening so fast.
  25. Cheers, True those link ecus are the pricey center piece. They only used to be $800, but the new g3 has 4d mapping what ever that is. Supposedly good for the itbs according to link tech.
