  1. yay!!! i shall attend and stuff. i reckon ill have to fry the shit out of something too. premo.
  2. brakes are all now working sweet. i had to adapt a new master cylinder, adapt a new remote booster and make all new brake lines. the master is probably off an early datsun and only needed a 10mm spacer to bolt directly up to the original mounting flange. its 7/8 bore and alloy. apart from that it looks very much like the original. i tucked the booster down inside the guard on the drivers side and ran a steel vacuum line from the manny down to the booster. so the brakes are now working and feel good. i also gave it an oil change. the old fuel pump had a split diaphragm and spent that last part of its life filling the sump with petrol, which explained why the total loss oil system this car seems to be fitted with never actually used any oil, and why it used more fuel than the space shuttle for the very short periods it was running. the oil was like water and smelled very much like petrol indeed. it runs a million times better new. what's next? the instillation of the W50 is the next job on the very, very very long list. sheepers.
  3. heres another picture from the track day (thanks Avenga) this is hard on the brakes at the end of the back straight, just about to turn in. im REALLY hoping some video turns up.... sheepers.
  4. the wheels came from the trade me. i could put you in touch with the guy who had them made (i think). have you spoken to Tony at steelie gears? he would know where to get such items. also, i saw you in the van just after the nick of time and i waved. but after you had driven past, so a bit pointless really..... sheepers.
  5. I INSTALL ALLL!!!!!!!! no, the concrete was always there man.
  6. so what the fuck have you been doing with this car sheepers????? the answer is- not much. Until NOW!!!!!!!! (actual truth and time frames may vary) new disk brake diff. altezza LSD, new everything and best of all its red so it will go faster. its fitted to the car and works fine. also, new electric fuel pump installed. new remote booster installed. new brake master acquired (thanks KY for giving it to me for a box of beers that i never gave you because im a bastard) and now for the piece of resistance! finally got the Jap spec front end finished and installed, this features all brackets sandblasted and re coated. headlight buckets stripped, bead blasted and recoated with high phosphorus electroless nickel. after i adapted them to take replaceable halogen bulbs and park lights (original headlight bulbs were silver soldered in, so to replace a bulb you bought a whole new headlight) and all fasteners replaced with stainless steel cap screws. in the photo the chrome headlight surrounds are missing because i didnt have time to fit them. i think the passingers side headlight is on the piss so i will adjust it to be true to the car. what else? i hear you demand!!!!!!!! well, just this, 14" charger centers re-set into 15 x 7 bands. powder coated and super sweet. also, wheel nuts are for fags. also, W50 to be installed ASAP. that, my friends, is the current state of affairs. sheepers.
  7. right, yea id be pretty pissed if it turns out 160 with a huffer on it.
  8. that would be excellent, i was hoping someone was going to put their hand up for the job. if you could just paint a large bulls eye on your door so ive got something to aim for. see you in the gravel trap!!
  9. on both counts above Ryan is correct, and i suspect that Ryan likes this. 165 is good speeds for a stock UZ, most of the UZ's that Brendon has on the dyno end up around the 155 area, so pretty happy with that. goes very well, loads of torque and power all over the place. looking forward to track day. it will be quite an eye opener to compare the RA23 to this.
  10. dyno today was all good. the thing runs like a dream!! does everything better than factory and pulls like fuck all the time! new front rotors are fitted and my brakes are working well and the oil change is done. tomorrow its getting the wheel alignment sorted and its all ready for fanging around the track on friday. cant wait!!! sheepers.
  11. no can come to this, bugger it all. Dad is in hospital and i gots to go hang out with him/feed him his dinner etc. will have to be next month..... sheepers.
  12. i heartily condone the shit out of your actions. what's your target weight/power for it???
  13. ok, so the computer is all finished and seems to be working. its going on the dyno on Tuesday for a final tune but it feels pretty good now. before the upcoming track day i have to fit the new front brake rotors, get the front camber set up and do an oil change. but, i have made my side exit exhausts! then i tested them to see how they sound, the answer to the question "how do they sound" is "fucking rubbish" so it will be stock exhaust for the track day. sheepers.
  14. i is heading down at about lunch on thursday. pooman, you wanna meet up for sexy times/ cruze down to taupo???? at that massive gas station mentioned above. ken for lots of stops on the way to look at shit and stuff about generally.
  15. roughly it cost exactly 680 inc. the same guy made the radiator in my 23. it took rather a large hit (intercooler and some brackets tried to make their way through the end tanks) when spencer drove into me on purpose during the infamous "crash heard around the world" at track day. these radiators are strong. really strong. i rate the quality of Dave's work very highly. buy one. sheepers.
  16. new radiator, for those of you who live in auckland and want a top notch radiator build go and see Dave at real deal radiators in henderson. and in other news, IT RUNS!!!! not very well obviously because its had no tune at all but it runs and i can hold it happily at about 600RPM without it doing anything unusual. so i guess now all i have to do is push the "auto tune" button and it will all be sweet. sheepers.
  17. the UZ in my celica did the same thing. the wires to the AFM broke (unbeknown to me) and it went heaps better, used MOUNTAINS of fuel but went better. i reckon this is a common problem with the GEN 1 UZ's because ive herd the same thing from other people, not 100% sure exactly what the problem is but i fixed mine by adding 1x link G4. there might be an easier way but i dont know what it is.....
  18. replace the ECU temp sensor (its the green one out of the three) to sort out your fuel usage woes. and as for skids, mines a fly by wire VVTi model and it will lay some serious 1's with the traction control off. roll backs (very gently) will get you smoking, if not then i dunno. install supercharger?
  19. I'm keen, as long as its after track day because i cant afford the time between now and then. but yea, would be keen on a cruze pub food type shindig
  20. wires, lots and lots of wires. its pretty close to finished (the new ECU install that is) and im quite happy about that. i still have to weld the wideband O2 sensor boss into the exhaust and mount the inlet air temp sensor but all the wires are finished, more or less (i have to sort out power supply for the wideband O2). once thats done its start up time!!!!! then off to the dyno for a tune and we're away! i have missed driving this car soooooooo much........ sheepers.
  21. if you want to sell your old power steering rack then i could be keen. is it an alloy body one or a steel body one??
  22. that is fucking sweet^^^^^^^ but on the whole, no i don't have an engine sorted, or an idea of what i want to use. I'm gonna roll with the 2M until it shits itself (2 minutes 20 seconds is about the longest an M has run without the aforementioned "shit itself") and see what happens. do like the look of disguised moders engine though. it would have to say something other than ford on the motor though....
  23. the re-wire continues but ther are no cool pictures involved in that, so i thought id post this so you get an idea of the size of the 112 in relation to the stock intake, should fit easy........ sheepers.
  24. the awful process of taking apart my baby, so that it might live in a larger light, has begun. i hate being without this car. it pains me to think ill be without it for weeks on end while i figure out how to make the link work. but all great omelets begin with broken eggs. this is the factory loom. many changes need to occur before i can plug the link in. the changes fall into two basic categories. 1) remove all the wires shown 2) install complete news system of wires that somehow make magic happen in the enginey bit, resulting in more speeds. so, easy. quite. sheepers.
  25. true. the difference is that the JZ is still running stock turbos and stock computer. with bugger all work the JZ will far surpass the UZ. hell, the JZ is suffering from weak ignition and the back turbo is smoky but right now i don't care, it still scares me and thats plenty fast enough (for now anyway.......) sheepers.
