well it started running very sickly, so stripped engine down for good measure - looks like it might have been caused by loose exhaust.... anyway decided to try out my new torque wrench when reassembling, and promptly snapped a stud off in the case... turns out you can't easily get m7 helicoils, not a big problem theres heaps of meat so opened every thing up to accommodate m8 studs... reassemble again with torque wrench and pull threads out of case (probably my inaccurate drilling...) so now everything is heli-coiled m8 and I have assembled by feel rather than by the book, and she runs happily again... runs happily again now (and I love testing my 2 strokes running up and down Parnell rise (I live near the bottom of it, I don't ride across town just to annoy people))

can't be too expensive right? maybe my next upgrade...

you could try Sterling Brake and Clutch if you want to spend some money... a friend got his 240z bits redone there last week...

I went but only for 30mins (the deal was we could leave if it rained)... looked like a lot of fun, keen to have a vehicle for next time - I think a subaru justy would be ideal...

now have a seat... also now have built wheel, after friendly bike shop people pointed out my spokes were the exact right length for a 3 cross pattern, rather than the 2 cross I had been trying to lace with... looking for a suitable exhaust now... will probably end up modifying a scooter one... very close to cutting the frame...

almost nothing is available locally, but virtually everything is available online... they're 50cc's but kits up to 90 are available and some guys can get 100kph with a good build....

did some actual work on this today - sort of... separated transmission (now free to a good home) and engine and started measuring for adapting plates to fit to the frame... Also received new rims from Malaysia in the post... Next job is to lace these rims to the Vespa transmission I have, and to my existing front hub. The hiccup in this step is figuring out what thread is on the end of the spokes I have so I can buy a matching die, none of my excitingly metric dies match....
