Probably, will attempt to read/become un-retarded for 5 mins.

I'm pretty sure I can't purchase any kind of appropriate shocks from anywhere tbh, but will ring some shock stockists tomorrow. Any idea on the diameter where it clamps into the hub? What exactly do you mean by rethreading?

Oookkk... So made a further attempt at doing the fronts, basically failure 101. Had front struts and springs out of 4wd brumby. Same mounting dimensions, heavier springs. Did not fully realize the difference length. Original shocks are 100fucked. Brumby struts have adjustable height spring perch, thought this would be handy for regaining captivity of springs if necessary. Springs minus 3 coils each, juust captive with adjusters wound up a little. But still jacked as shit. Struts look like this Car looks like this with struts wound DOWWN. Springs minus 3 coils are also rediculously stiff. Wouldn't mind so much if it was boned as shit, but alas, it is not. Unacceptable.

Yeah, my bet is that if I attempted to weld something up myself from scratch it would end up all wonky and looking like an abortion of a thing. Would rather obtain some cheap fucked thing and alter it.
-
Fuck yeah. Might do tbh, car was intended to be a donor car motorwise for the old ladys thing, body of donor is fuct. So might crack into separating some bits off the body after nats and seeing whats salvagable IE- front beam, rear end etc. Then wap a watercool pushrod subaru motor on the back of it. Will be a 'one day' project, but keen to start hoarding bits for that time.
-
Would rather the Baja bug look over the bathtub/beach buggy. But body is fair rooted on the spare we have so would most likely go for 90% tube stz.

Watched it a few nights ago after your post in the movie thread, Blew my mind. I probably would bother with getting it roadworthy, some of the ones in pictures there don't even appear to maintain the VW chassis?

So I've decided I would like to build one of these http://img104.imageshack.us/i/buggyabps9.jpg/ And have access to a rusty and slightly bent old beetle. My question is, not knowing much about beetles, what is required etc?

Exactly. Chur for getting shit done.

anything stud/eye with extended length 390-410mm let me know yeh? lubs will investigate. On the eye end what size roughly is the shaft? Does it go directly through the bush or is it with a sleeve through the bush kind of Text me 0273083337 I'm off back to work now

Just pulled the other rear shock. Has lots of travel and doesn't appear to bottom out in the back. The 185 slicks are rubbing slightly but I don't plan to have them on the back anyway, 165/65 has heaps of clearance. Going to have a rummage through some NOS shocks at work and hopefully find what I'm after. Front looks like I can go approx 30mm lower before a body fold/seam is lower than 100mm. But said fold can be folded out of the way/flattened with a hammer. So perhaps ~60mm to be gained in the front still. Exhaust will be on ground/meh.
-
Gonna have to be careful on front though, will probably end up higher than front. Can afford to loose a few more coils and remain captive/important things off the ground. Exhaust etc are gonna be rulingly close though.
-
Haha, yeah, choppy chop is basically next on the list/getting these shitfuck bushes sorted.
-
I dig what you're up to. A++

Ok, So needing some urgent motivation. Some of this Removed here Fuck knows about this Some shit was here This Turned into turned into into Shocks are silly long and have toyota/kyb written on them. Bottomed out shocks but still appears to have nice clearance + travel with the right shocks I hope. Car doesn't have bumpstops in suspension so might have to ensure shocks have some. According to my markings on splines I went 1 spline down on one side and 2 on the other, but this is incorrect. ~100mm both sides regardless. Final result for now = Might have some bushes by the weekend and be able to make it mobile again/slam the front.

Pretty sure a business can decline any work technically? It is a bit ratshit though. From his perspective, his hourly rate might be say $80/hr, writing a 1000 word essay on what is wrong with said vehicle and spending quite a long time to double check borderline things against the rulebook/virm far exceeding $45 (or whatever they charge for a wof) worth of labour. Then to get no work out of the warrent to offset the extra time lost. Not trying to come across as a cunt or anything but looking at it from a business point of view its probably a loss/loss situation.

I'll be basically broke/one million other things in WHK I should be doing. -
Hydraulic Lash Adjuster - S? But yeah I think he means hydraulic lifters.

I did this on saturday then drove down one hundred stairs or so + 70km of odd riding around. Doesn't appear to be leaking again yet. Scraped out what looked like black sand and one or two chunks of gack.

I think from memory from looking at the T-top latches on the brumby my old man uses to spray weeds they're different. I will have to check next time I'm near that one though. Ain't no worry Beaver, cheers!
-
Still haven't found a suitable window latch, mostly for lack of trying. A guy emailed me saying that he had some. Then didn't email me back when I asked if he'd sell one.

Ok, So I said I'd be driving this POS to Nats in May. So an update or two is necessary. I had a bit of a play with the front struts comparing them to a set of Brumby items I had. Brumby stuff is slightly longer but has adjustable height spring perch and (I assume) a heavier spring rate. Tinkered with the brumby spring length a little and chucked them back in, appears to be basically the same height, so I will review that again shortly. Haven't had a chance/the motivation to mess with the rear of it yet. Got a pair of 165/65-14s off trademe and down here via the OSGC courier service aka Fuel & Newbie. They were advertised as 165/60's, but regardless, they don't look tooo terrible on there. I more wanted just to get them to get a guage on what sizes would work on such a funny car/munty sized rims. I also picked up a few extra 14' SSR mesh wheels a few months ago, again delivered via the OSGC courier service AKA brock-lee. The centres are slightly different, but having 7 of them is slightly nice. Here I'd like to demonstrate the spaciousness of the elegant sports coupes boot. 5rims, 2 tool boxes, and a boxed 12' sub. A pair of these now wear some pretty worn semislicks, might come in handy? The other pair just languish away in a corner. The worlds safest compressor So yeah, another pair of this size tyre + remove guard gap/mudflaps scraping, and I think I'll be onto something. Might leave the front a little higher than the back as there is a bit that hangs down/FWD drag car/so it looks like its hooning 100% of the time. These Are now on this, Which is cool because I can't have that many wheels on my car at once, and it is a worthy wee vehicle.

I don't know enough about these to be able to think of anything, but does yours have an in tank high pressure pump?
