  1. Just chuck some sand bags in one side cuz
  2. Seen you parked outside supercheap in masterton lookin all tuff. car looks mean irl
  3. ^^ you can buy a new wheel for nissans that turns them into a "24-1-1" for like 10 bucks (got one in my isuzu dizzy and works a treat) I think Burntrubber up there used paint to fill in 359 of the holes on his or something? so ended up being 4-1? edit: 28usd from diyautotune http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/50-mm-optical-trigger-wheel-for-nissan-sr20det-or-ka24de-p-472.html
  4. I think tuners hate them because the owners who bring them in are cheap/lazy cunts who don't install them properly and have issues.
  5. Good to hear it from someone with actual experience for once, rather than internet hearsay. Just seemed odd after having so much success with it in my old shitters. I'll stop harping on now haha. As you were.
  6. +1 on Megasquirt, done a couple of tunes now with good success. I knew nothing about electronics before hand either. They do take a bit more patience depending on the info around for your particular engine setup. Should be sweet with anything Toyota as they're super popular.
  7. They usually put some anti corrosive stuff into the E10 mix as well (Gull does at least). I think you guys are a little paranoid haha - maybe a good excuse to drive your old beast regularly? Bring on E85 I say
  8. If you have water in your tank you're fucked to start with tbh. It will absorb moisture, yes, but it then gets burnt off by the engine anyway and won't harm anything. E10 is all I've ran in the Gemini since last sept with factory carb fuel lines as the return and factory fuel tank. It also sat for a few months outside during winter while I built and swapped in another engine.
  9. There are a lot of myths around about Ethanol, don't beleive everything you read on the internet eh. Never had a problem myself and I also run it in an 80s motorbike with vacuum hose for fuel line which is still in one peice..
  10. Do you have Gull 98 E10 where you live? I'd give that a shot if you do as the ethanol in it is less prone to det than normal petrol. I've got a 4agze which are prone to pulling a shit tone of timing out at 5500rpm onwards if they detect knock (seems to be more common on ae101s). it's an instant loss of power you can really notice. I only run it on E10 as it's the only fuel that it runs on properly and pulls like a champ above 5500 now. Had an old carby/points Corona that pinged like mad on 95, E10 solved that too and ran much nicer
  11. Awesome! thanks dude, did you use the normal or extreme stuff? If you don't mind, can I ask what this cost you? You can PM me if you want.
  12. Hello chaps. I've been using cheap "titanium" heat wrap with great success. That is, until the manifold gets taken off a few times and the wrap turns to shit, but it works damn good for thermal insulation. Anyway for the 2jz manifold/DP etc I'm making, I'd like to get them coated if there are any that are good? mainly because it's less bulky, lasts longer, easier etc (plus it's less itchy) Do these fancy coatings actually give good thermal insulation? (my main concern) - I couldn't give a shit about what it looks like, although I'd prefer it to not be blingy. It's made from sch 40 steam pipe so corrosion resistance doesn't really matter either Chur bowl
  13. I actually did something to this on Saturday, thanks for reminding me I had it haha. It now has working lights and stuff.. might even try get a WOF next weekend/forget I own it for another year or 2
  14. Isn't that DC like, just over 200 crank hp? Fuck that's epic for a 1600
  15. I should get some photos, it's black and covered in bird shit though lol
  16. Wow haha. I haven't needed to use it, so never bothered to finish. Just needs wiring hooked up and it can go for its wof/reg. It has 18mm? ply deck and the support is 50x50x2.5mm? I think
  17. Front pulley adapter of some sort? the 4 big bolt holes seem odd though.
  18. They couldn't even find GZE/or the correct Crown on their system lols, so I told them to look for "turbo Supra xxxx year" but didn't bother getting gaskets through them cause they wanted 160 bucks from Japan. Made my own with proper ex gasket material and hole punches, hah.
  19. Different part numbers broseph, I think the turbo has smaller ports, but I'm 90% sure the bolt spacing is the same so they may still work. GZE also has different part numbers but I'm sure they can use GE gaskets. My memory is bad haha. Good luck with your trip to Toyota, I hope your local branch has some clue, my local is useless for this shit. Take a chassis code with you
  20. Pretty sure I seen this in Masterton today, at some panel shop on Villa st?
  21. Quick google tells me g52 and stock gemini box both have a .85 5th gear, so around 33-3400rpm @ 100k with stock 3.9 ratio diff and 195/50/15
  22. Sorry, just read your thread, thought you were keeping it auto.
  23. Gem diffs are reasonably strong. I'm pretty sure a stock diff with an LSD center from a zz would be the cheapest and by far the easiest. (they come up every now and again on yahoo auctions japan) There are quite a few gems in Aus running stock diffs with beefy turbo engines, V8s etc. My zz/r diff seems to love the old 3rd gear skid on 195s - ratio IIRC is 3.9 so would rev even higher with a bounty 4.1 2jz autos have a pretty long 4th gear ratio of like 0.71, so match that with a 3.9 would be much better I think If you plan on doing massive limiter dumps or using drag slicks then I'd use something else, but from what I've experienced first hand and read on ozgemini, stock diffs take quite a beating
  24. 4-2-1 are meant to be better for mid range torque. 4-1 better up in the revs - supposedly.
