  2. Oh sweet, this way i wont have to modify the pick up as it suits where it used to sit. Yep dummy engine all in, baffles and trapdoor set-up is part of the plan. cheers kk that sounds like a good spec to use haha
  3. So i need to make a new sump for car and just wondering about oil flow/amount is in circulation while engine is running. New sump design has a flat bottom to in with no hump as such for oil to naturally flow to, it will hold and extra litre or 2 by design thou. any thoughts on this?

  7. iv got 6 or 8 standard size coilover springs your welcome to try out, would be 2 different spring rates atleast between them
  8. cheers mate, they had alot of troubles with gearbox so could well be a bad connections down there.
  9. he has moved to aus so has sat for a few months now but it used to drive like it was a non turbo and you could visually see the boost gauge go up to 10-12psi etc then it would sometimes run fine and go as good as it should. he had the turbo replaced, no difference. all vacumm lines and clamps looked good. there was no abnormal noises or apparant from memory stuttering or backfiring. Speedo is working correctly. Im unsure about whether ecu is picking it up, codes might tell all. Will spend signal effect performance, limp mode etc? Will have a better look over and check codes out hopefully within the next week
  10. It still goes perfectly well just lack of power, sometimes it goes as it should. Hopefully doesn't turn into electrical nightmare. I remmeber reading the caldina engines are alot different in terms of what i cant remember from the celicas? Hes overseas and cars mine for cheaps so am gonna give it a go. Ill keep blow off valve in mind.
  11. yo tgb or other 3sge minded people. looking at purchasing new daily of st205 celica, intermittent not boosting, still has boost pressure although. Any common 3sge related issues? Its had a caldina engine installed and since then its never ran right but it was dorment for some time sitting. Cant check it out untill weekend/next week so will be trawling net for any help untill so /stuck in wellington on course, its killing the time.

  16. Ill give it a test try, mine has 15" honey comb stz mags thought this was the norm/smallest. Cheers, should be in a nice shade of flat black by the end of the week

    RB25 help

    Does the new engine have vvt? /variable cam timing. This is shown via large bulge in cam cover on inlet side If it doesn't you could use the old loom as everything will be the same. The only new plug on the newer vvt engines to worry about would be for the solenoid to active it. You cant remap the newer ecus which are from the r33 but if it is an early 25 from the r32's it can be mapped. Your mods sound pretty common, a ecu tune place should be able to get something pretty close without it being on the dyno. Upgrade to a purple sticker one, not important at this stage can be done later on. Basically, buy a new plenum or get someone/u to weld on an extension off standard turbo manifold with a wastegate flange on the end
  19. check water pump hasn't actually snapped off impeller new radiator cap give cooling system a pressure test aswell to see where its going, might just be coming out the overflow cause of above problems.
  20. spoke to technical guy today about this, official reply was the cat rule will apply to cars that have had the engine swapped after 1st of may. so if you can get some proof that the engine was fitted prior to may 1 then you wont need to worry about it. A simple picture will suffice you think?
  21. would chopping the sump off at the mounting flange and rewelding 180% around give you a better position? i have just done this with an rb sump
  22. pressure test the cooling system. It doesn't matter which it is when you take the head off you get it checked and or planned and a new headgasket fitted.
