budget is really small just wanted to get a few new bits and pieces to get the motor running nice the only reason i even mention using the cortina engine is that its already out and sitting on my bench so i could do all new gaskets,oil pump,water pump,thermostat then one weekend swap everything over,also can i get any decent gain out of cleaning the inlet and exhaust ports up with a dremmel

im looking at rebuilding the old 1600 out of my mk2 cortina to put it into my escort, numbers on the engine block are 691M 6015BA i just wanted to know what this motor is like in comparison to the sport motor that is currently in my escort,im going to do the following port and polish head,mild cam,2L carb,extractors and 2inch exhaust with these in mind which would be the better motor to get power from? cheers

yea sounds like something is shorting out

well it turns out one of the engine mounts snapped and the vibration from the motor hitting the steering rack/crossmember turned the distributer(which was loose) enough to get it out of tune

so i went to go for a drive in the escort and only just got out of the driveway when the thing started bunnyhopping and sppluttering till it eventually stalled itself i managed to start it and splutter into the driveway but yuh i have tried starting it a couple more times but its missing so so badly under revs and as soon as ya take your foot off the gas it stalls out,i immediatly thought fuel problem?yesterday i put 95 in it instead of usually putting 91 could this be my problem?

right everything is done(or so i thought anyway) on the way up to the wof this morning got to about the end of the road and then the front left started making some fucking loud noises and pulling to the left hard(FUCK) i thought it was the wheel bearing so i bought new ones and replaced them but after closer inspection it was the pistons on the calliper seazing so that was an easy fix pushed it in and out a few times sanded off surface rust and sparayed a bit of crc on it so thats all done and even make the car a bit quicker as the brakes arnt stuck on also went for a cruise up to kerikeri and picked up some extractors off happyvan (cheers boe btw). chur

cheers guys,um i probably wont start working on it till after christmas,nah dont have a part time job i prefer working for old people haha get a good variety of stuff to from mowing lawns to touching up paint on houses its good fun but once these holidays are over and done it'll be time to start looking for something full time

ha thats strange spose cortina mounts are different,at a geuss i would say the bigger one goes on right side for more room for resevoirs etc maybe??

fuck wish i didnt sell my old struts out of the cortina i didnt realise how easy/cheap this is to do i think i might start looking out for the parts i need and do it

what does this cost in comparison to a new set of coilovers......including welders costs an shit gaz?
