  1. Need a run around while vans off road getting rust done and repaint...... Boomin sounds Pickup this weekend
  2. Nah just being a mk2 van all the diffs come out with the mounts, but the bodies floorpan is based on early mk1 so no mount points
  3. Dude those are local to me, whats parts availability like for these beasts? How many ccs??
  4. Urgh that pic shud be banned from the enets.... Am ordering from Burtons so are just ordering the gaz shocks they list for early mk1s Shud be sweet as for what I want from it.
  5. How do you get an importers licence number?
  6. Do you think the standard mk1 style gaz adjustables as supplied by burtons would handle a couple inches of lowering? Would probly use blocks anyway which wudnt affect the spring platform height anyway right? Dont wanna convert to upright. Budgets not overly high for the suspension, more going to engine. Already ordering heaps from Burtons anyway so dont think the postage price is guna change that much by chucking these few bits in.
  7. You sure its the gearbox and not the diff thats blown?
  8. MacPherson struts in the front, rear leaf springs, the coil over kits convert the front stuts to coilover $40 for kit per side and they can do springs to suite for around $40 aswell. So yeah pretty basic, just wondering how much benefit panhard rods provide?
  9. Well I can get the gaz shocks for pretty much the same price as the ones in NZ, munroe etc Doesnt have a panhard rod or rear swaybar or anything, its going to need to be certed anyway due to engine coversion.
  10. Right, so about to order a bit of kit from the UK Coilover kits are cheap, reckon thatd be overkill for a mk2 escort van to be used daily with a pinto? Looking at gaz shocks aswell, how do these compare to the likes of munroe etc?? And panhard rod? Worthwhile upgrade?
  11. 1300gt pistons fitted to a 1600 will give 11:1 compression ratio
  12. It wont matter which way around the big cables are, when the solenoids activated it just links them, see what wire comes live when you turn the key to start, and just see which one makes it go, cant imagine it wud blow up if its around the wrong way?
  13. Lol so many crazy replies, took crank out, tapped pistons down bores to unsieze, wernt that badly stuck LOL!, then proceded to clean bores so I could get pistons out, engines apears to be a low millage one compared to the other two 205 engines ove pulled apart, bores will oversize nicely
  14. Oh and Im tryna save the rods. pistons dont matter
  15. Got a pinto here, had no plugs in it, water been in engine = engine super seized Ideas? Already got head off, not pretty... Have chucked wd40 in there to sit ova night, was guna see what happens but doesnt look good
  16. Ok I have worked out the differance in 205 engines The early as sierras had normal cortina blocks with 20 on the side Later ones had 205 cast in large letters on the side, and the latest ones ( with the stronger rods ) have 205 cast in small letters Earlier Later
  17. Could even be the internal contacts in the starter solenoid, they are cheap to replace, doesnt hurt to throw some new parts at it
  18. They are the same as the ones on the left
  19. Keenzorz, any idea why both 205 blocks of mine are cortina ones? Perhaps early 205 blocks?
  20. Hey guys Can anyone shed some light on 205 Block sierra Rods It was my understanding that the 205 blocks had the thicker, slightly stronger rods Now Ive pulled apart two 205 Block motors and both had what I underdstand as cortina rods!!!! Acording to this article they should have the rods pictured on the right http://www.retrotech.co.nz/Tech/205-rods.php But both sets of mine are the left pic. Any one have any clues? Pulled any pinto blocks apart? Even beter can someone sell me a set?
  21. u needa new cable then, see above
  22. Sounds like the cable clip is broken? If so maybe another cable is the best option, cortina or Sierras have longer cables than escorts and are the same fittings
