  1. Its a good ad tho man. Engine looks top notch and the condition the engine bay is in suggests that top dollar has been spent, which it has.
  2. yeh man, very awesome. he needs ta suss some propa photos out tho ay.
  3. You won't need 86 rear. Just modify the driveshaft to go onto your standard diff to begin with. Sure you will need to upgrade to something to handle the power eventually but it can be wait. An when you do it can be whatever is easiest for you, as 86 stuff is near impossible to find and won't go in easily anyway. You need rear wheel drive exhaust manifold as the fwd one dumps straight onto where the mount bolts up for rwd, and you'll also need rwd intake (off an ae86 or modify one to suit - could get pricey) as the fwd one will have the intake facing straight towards your firewall! I think Escorta mentioned everything else. A twin sidedraft setup would be pretty cool. You can score all sorts of carbs on 4age manifolds if you hunt around. good luck man
  4. Looks pretty straight man. Good effort
  5. Whoa thats VERY awesome. These old ronas are style ay.. especially with a 4agte residing under the hood!
  6. sorry i meant gearbox xmember. Gemi engine mounts on a piazza engine works in both chevette and gemini, the engine xmember is the same. The gearboxes between the two are completely different tho so I'm not sure what the deal is here. I needed to fabricate a new gb xmember for my chevette tho, a gemi one might work?
  7. I like the idea of rb, but i think toyotas engines are as good if not better and you can pick up a mint 1jz-gte for about $1200-$1500. Put a r154 or w58 behind it and you'd be away. These motors commonly make 160+ rwkw with no mods. You'd be looking at 240hp before you even start playing with it.
  8. ooo yea. those white walls look awesome. is the headgasket fixed now??
  9. I've put a twincam g200w in a chevette so I can tell you what to do there. I'm just not sure of the differences between mounting a g200w and a 4zc1. If its turbo it will be single cam. Sounds like he may have blown the turbo while putting it under strain? explains it making little power but still running. And you still need to change xmember and cut the floor out a little in a chevette. The remote shifter comes up where the handbrake is so i moved it forward a little.
  10. Yeh the colour kinda suits the blue ay but I might havta sell them with the gem.. see what happens No springs, its just sitting on the guards at the back but once I roll them it should be sweet I think. Cars look stupid if they aren't lowered enough.
  11. Good effort man. I remember looking at this awhile back but haven't seen the updates untill now. I think I speak for afew people when I say its not what I would call my usual cup of tea but you have managed to put it together from an idea you had and made it work, and look great. Thats what oldschool cars are about I reckon, having an idea and trying to do something a little different. Aswell as that I like the interior, its good to see a change from the all white look, good to see you got your moneys worth. And.. just to finish off, I'm in love with those carbs! They look so good. Oh, also just thort I'd mention. I met a dude up here whose building one that actually looks similar to this (but not in a copying way I hope). Its got series 4 rx7 (i think) side skirts and he's making his own IRS setup for it and running a 1UZ Lexus v8. I thort that was pretty cool, but some die hard ford fans might get a little angry that he's cross breeding...
  12. then it would start when i jumped it, wouldnt it? chur Not always. The jumper leads charge the battery but often can't flow the kind of current required to actually turn the car over so if the battery is completely stuffed it still won't start. I've only found this with the gay spike-proof jumpers tho. Just try the screw driver across the starter. If that doesn't start then check earths. If it does start replace solinoid. If that doesn't fix it you have some gay arse electrical problem hah
  13. Theres a place in morrinsville, K&H Auto spares I think its called. The dude is a f**kn good c*nt and gives you anything he has for cheap as. Last year I was sussing out others parts through him and asked if he had vl pumps just in case I needed one. He had quite afew and would part with them for $40! Dunno if he's still got any but give it a go.
  14. Ahh, no sorry to everyone. Chevettes sell for like $2, buy one and do it! cheers, they jus 17s. whats that in your avatar, a capri or what?
  15. Better pics this time round. Let me know if it takes too long downloading an I'll make them smaller.
  16. Its come to recruiting ay. Good luck! I hate sanding, you need to get blakperls slaves up there for half a day!
  17. hahaha umm... ok its ugly already I don't wana go and make it worse! I sorta see how it could work tho... but no! you try it 4 My friends hassle me... hah And yup, its that same one indeed. Thats what I meant by, 'thanks neil for doing all the hard work,' so now all i have to do is pull out the springs and put wheels on it.. then eventually motor and turbo etc
  18. Tuf bro, deffinately looks the part with that new front on it. Would be cool to make it bug front but i don't think u can ay. Guna be mean once its bumpt and rotor
  19. well, thanks for the replies! I don't really like chevette bumpers at all, not sure what i'm guna do yet tho. Maybe pf50 bumpers.. just square it up a little.. Engine wise, Piazza twincam, you should know this zep.. talked about it abit. Gunna leave tha front for now.. I like this front because so many people dislike it. Something different is always good, even if it is ugly. I would like to use an early Gemini front but if I'm ever going to change this, its going to be an Opel Kadet nose i think (some how).
  20. My new wagon. Just on my Gem wheels at the moment but I'm thinking about selling these on the Gem and getting a new look for the Vaux. Thanks to Niel, who I bought this car off, and his old man for doing the hard work to get this car looking so straight, and leaving me to do the fun stuff. Pics are a little dark on some monitors. I'll think about getting others soon.
  21. I would recommend you use the early 18R-G engine. It is a 2.0L Twincam, twin side draft caburated engine. Very good performance (for an old 8 valve engine) and very reliable. This would save the hassle of using fuel injection where you would have to: * upgrade your entire fuel system - quite costly * run a large efi loom and a computer - quite confusing (and gay) Also the early model 18R-G engines made more horse power than the later model 18R-GU and 18R-GEU engines, its only the last model efi engine had a higher compression and larger valves which produced a higher output than the first to my knowledge. These were available in early 80's rwd cars and should be relatively easy to find, and bolt in without too much hassle. Oo and as far as Turbo ones, I've never seen one myself, they are single cam and only make 100 or so kw.. you'd be better off to go for a twincam one and Turbo it eventually if you find the need. I was just looking at a finnish site where they were running 1000hp out of one!
  22. That looks far too low you crazy hooligan! You should just add some water sprinklers and save yourself doin panel and paint. Keep it moist mate ooo yeea
  23. I have a G200W twin cam in my other vauxhall. Its all bolted up with driveshaft and everything. Its a straight bolt in using standard xmember and you just bolt gemini mounts onto the G200 block. You need to change the exhaust manifold tho as the Piazza dumps right where you bolt up the gemi mount. You only need the diesel xmember if you want to use an old 117 G200W as they have a different sump as far as I'm aware. The ZZ g180w will bolt straight in. Very hard to find in NZ tho as very few ZZ (R/Z) were brought here. Piazza g200w's are way easier to pick up. Piazza diffs bolt straight in to both geminis and chevettes with the exception of the panhard rod. It goes the other way (right-left rather than left-right if you know what i mean) (It doesn't go both ways like bmwsparkle. ) Oh and also the piazza diff is 50mm wider so it fuks with your offset a little. Those shocks sound mean. My new chev has good shocks but let me know how it goes. They will fit aswell. All the mounting points are identical. Just watch that the actual diameter isn't too large. I had some air shocks in the gemi and they wouldn't let mags go on! I've wanted to do a TC/TD/TX wagon for ages now (gem wagon with zeps front or a variation of atleast). Ahwell, lotsa people really hate vauxhall chevette fronts so I'll stick with one of them for a little while. Its good to have a car that all the evo/wrx/all other gay car owners loath. Methodz thats 2g with wheels. Car needs to be viewed tho, its a project not a daily. Its not really bad or anything, just not clean. Guna try suss a warrant in a week or 2 aswell so see how that goes to get a better idea on price.
