  1. Yea that was the part number I ordered as of advice from Barry from burtonpower. well that part number is correct for a vented disc 20.1-21.8mm They may have sent the wrong part. I would ask them what the width of the caliper should be.
  2. what is the thickness of the discs? also what part number did you order? 120-8729-M16?
  3. There are 2 types of heads 1) completly flat head HC 2) A bowl around the valves LC the best 1 to have is the Flat 1.
  4. can you take some pics of it as im trying to make a pedal box for my mk cortina 2door. So far i have got a willwood brake and clutch assembley and another brake assembly for the accalerator and now i have to make a bracket to hold the 2.
  5. I just checked my last invoice and it looks like his labour rate is $60/hr and it was 9 hrs to: Crack test crankshaft balance 4 cylinder rotating Assembly Measure pistons to Bore clearance Hone bores, retap threads deeper in flywheel, remove gallery plugs Fit cam brearings, check fit bearings, check rod balance balance pistons adjust mains clearance. I just found the head price was $1600 thats for port polish and new springs new guides and seals and 3 new valves. hope this helps
  6. I use lynn for all my work, he does cost a bit more. But at least you know what you are getting. My brother used an other engine recon company to balance the bottom end of his crossflow. after running the engine for about an hour we found it had run 3 bearings. took it to lynn and found the crank was bent.after testing 3 we found 1 that was ok. The only problem with lynn, he is really busy so it will take a while to get things done.
  7. Keen on some of these, Any chance of pics dude? http://www.performancewheels.co.nz/performance_2.html that was the price from 1 of my local mag shops. i should be getting a set of them this month for my car.
  8. Ive just been looking at the same thing and these are the prices ive got. Superlites from Manukau Auto& tyre centre 15x8 $327 each 16x7 $369 each minilites from Neil orport which they would ship from england 15x8 $600 each + shipping so if you want minilites its best to get them from England (burton power) and get them to ship to you.
  9. Does anyone know where the extra strengtening plates are on a type 49 Mk1 escort Bodyshell. I have bought a kit that has 6 strengthening plates but i can only work out where 2 go. If anyone can help it would be great.

    Brakes etc

i got mine from rally design (front and back). they do really nice kits http://www.rallydesign.co.uk with dust seals everyone i have spoken to about this says they have never had a piston seize up. but you can now get the willwood Narrow forged superlite caliper with dust seals

    Sticky bolts

my guess will be that the bolt goes through a metal pipe and the bolt has rusted to that pipe and there is NO way to get that out. This happened to the bolts on my leaf springs. I had to cut both ends off inside the braket. If you have an air saw i found that was the best way. and then you will need to get new bolts and bushes.
  12. The other weekend i thought i would make the guards bolt on. All ways the way remove some thing and you will find RUST. Im in the middle of repairing all the RUST Also i have removed the battery Box. Today i got some new stuff the front brakes arrived OLD brakes NEW Brakes Now i just have to check the mags im getting has the correct offset.
  13. if you are using a resistor, you are using a coil that is designed to run at 7V not 12V. So you have the resistor to drop the voltage from 12V to 7V. When you turn the key the starter motor will turn. this causes the 12V to drop to 7V (this is only when you turn the key to start)and the voltage at the coil will be 4V (not enough for a good spark)instead of the voltage for the coil coming from the resistor it comes from the 12Vwhich has dropped to 7V due to the starter motor running. hope this helps its hard to explain.
  14. here is a basic diagram the reason for the resistor is on a non resistor circuit, while the starter motor is crancking the voltage at the coil drops to 7V so to combat this they use a resistor to to drop 12V to 7V and the coil is designed to run on 7V with the resistor circuit you need to have a bypass when the key is on the start possition the coil is feed directly from 12V which will drop to 7 due to the starter motor voltage drop.
  15. scaned each page 100mb per page! so got them down to 500k Hope this helps you might have to get some stuff from burton or rally design
  16. I have CF May 2002 which shows how to do a rack conversion in a 1965 corsair. which i could scan for you if you want it.
  17. depends on how much you want to spend?? i use lynn Rogers (east Auckland) but he does cost more. it cost $2500 to fully work a 1600 kent head.
  18. have you looked at a willwood pedal box with reverse mount master cylinders. If you dont have much room under the dash you can use short tilton master cylinders as they are half the size of a standard 1 with the same presure as the big 1's. The only problem is willwood dont do a gas pedal so you need to get another brake pedal and modify to do the gas. and the other thing is cost about $1000 i managed to fit this under the dash of my mk1 cortina but i havent finished pumbing it.
  19. Have posted anything for a while been really busy with work My NEW rear brakes arrived last week so i decided to see how the fit. next month i should be ordering the new front brakes and also picking up a set of 17" to fit over them.
  20. i had 1 made for my mk1 cortina it was the size of the standard GT 1, but twice as thick, with mounting points for a 15" fan to go on the front and it cost me $900 i got throgh a radiator place but they sent it away to be built.
  21. wilwoods are easy to get in auckland. kendals and cardwells do willwood. and im pretty sure you can get pad from 0800 brakes http://www.racebrakes.co.nz/index.shtml if not talk to them they will tell you the best brakes for you.
  22. i just checked my crossflow manifold and i had no problems connecting the 2 carbs with the linkage, but my manifold is different to yours mine does not have the support where the carbs bolt on , it hads it halfway down the manifold. i had the same problem you have got with a pre crossflow mainfold. with the soft mounts i only needed to file a bit off of the support to get them to fit in the end i retuned that manifold as it hit my extractors, and the seti have now a 2 seperate manifolds so if you really get stuck cut that bit off
  23. yeah im pretty sure mk1 and 2 diff heads are the same just diff ratios. you can also use secort diff heads as well. i had a mk2 sport head in my mk1 cortina for a while the only thing i had to change was the plare that the drive shaft bolts to.
  24. the floor was taken out buy a previous owner and a back seat was put in. I have removed it. so i can get the bucket seats certed.
