    pinto engine work

Oh yeah, pintos eat cams so make sure the lifters are faced correctly, I ended up running a Billet cam as mine ate out 2 regrinds. Gaz

    pinto engine work

My old mans got a bare freshly honed block and some decent pistons to fit and crank to match, he would sell it as he has no real use. He also has some other shit like high pressure and flow oil pump. Oil hex drives Prob a head or two, nothing special If you want the most out of the wild cam then you need to do some port work + induction. Expect to pay at least $1000 on the head for crack testing, skim, new valves + cut, stainless inserts, some porting/clean up, new cam bearings, new oil spray bar (you really want this), & new head studs. Rough pricing: $1000 on twin carbs + a tune ontop of that. $300-1500 on extractors and exhaust $300ish for Leads, plugs, dizzy rebuild, new coil $100 for new waterpump $200 gaskits $200 seals $250 new clutch $100 belts $200 adjustable cam gear $??? Labour ontop of this If you do all this you really want some stuff balenced and a lightened and a dowled flywheel $500-1000 So if you start looking at it this way then you might start considering an engine swap instead, all depends what you want and how far you want to go. A worked pinto is fun but dont expect anything NA over about 160hp unless paying someone who knows what they are doing to port the head which will cost $1000 alone. For a muck around car perhaps look at just rebuilding the bottom end, get the head cleaned up and stainless inserts installed, a fr32 or similar fast road cam, extractors and 32/36 standard carb. This wouldn't cost much and would be about 115hp. Gaz Gaz
  3. I got 245 35 16s if you wanted to see what the profile was like for a guide Gaz
  4. This is what I did with mine, good fun playing with this and the adjustable cam gear. Slick, set yours up at 6deg and then see how it goes. If it pinks then knock it back but watch out for overheating. This is the issue you will have with the compression ratio.. pinking vs overheating.. make sure your running 98 gas. Gaz
  5. Kiwi rotary seems to be a better forum with less 'brap brap, mean pulse bro, drill ports and hoes' going on than Havoc but sadly it seems pretty bloody quiet on Kiwi rotary ? Lately it has had a few comments/theads going towards the Havok style tho IMO.. but then we get them here on occasion also. Gaz
  6. Looks amazing with really high standard, even the paint underneith! I hate the plastic looking crap RX3 tail lights + leaf spring rear end, go the 2! Gaz
  7. If you didnt feel it then it didn't happen... right? Gaz
  8. Yeah they can, order them from Kelford Gaz
  9. The ones for viscous fans are threaded, the ones for normal fans are not threaded. I think all the Sierra ones were for viscous fans FYI. I think it may be reverse thread yes. The timing will not be correct for the block/head combo you have, it will need to be custom/do some playing. Gaz
  10. This man speaks the truth. Waterpumps are cheap as tho so may aswell get a new one while its off. Gaz
  11. Chemset = boss. Wont be what they are glueing buildings together with in Chrchr tho, that will likely be some sort of crack injection polyurathane resin, at least thats what they are using on some of the Welly Earthquake sites. Gaz
  12. Got it UJ. PS. Thanks Russel your neat. Gazatron
  13. I got a bigger carb on mine off TM and it stops the top end starving, bogs down a bit in low revs tho but still usable. Makes them way fun aye, I dort over the Wainui hill with middy on the back and it loves it Gaz
  14. On the contrary, will 175/50's be small enough
  15. Got 16mm, seeya Sat at lunch, Jute wants to know if Leslie will be home? Gaz
  16. Mico = Mastertrade now woned by Fletchers btw Gaz
  17. You have a good point here. As long as spline is correct then its just a matter of finding the correct bearing to use. Pickapart would be good for finding axles. How do you measure a spline, dia + count? Spacing could be differant tho. Gaz
  18. Can you somehow remind me mid next week, not sure if ya have my work phone number or not 0272981370. Need the 20 or 25mm crimpers? Gaz
  19. Crimper I can get. Trade materials I can get. Next weekend? Gaz
  20. Id say they have blocked it out to give strength and meet bracing requirements. Having the iron direct fixed like mentioned above is good IMO, makes it way better if you have to walk on it, Ed, what ya doing for lighting? Gaz
  21. Hilux diffs are hard to respline as extra meat is usually needed before doing the splining. I used to have a mustang diff which had had 500hp through it for 5years and it just had welded axles. Whatd it cost ya last time to respline? 3 months of pestering is a general cash job isnt it lol Gaz Gaz
