  1. The tan/clearish ones are 370cc low impedance not sure on red ones been jecs and red guessing rb20det which are 270cc.
  2. Bit of an update done a few bits running wasted spark now and put some GTR Skyline injectors in want to run abit more boost soon. Can see the Mitsi coil packs I,ve used in this pic Made up a stainless cap for the dizzy seen as it runs no leads now its a dizzy out of a 4ze1 Isuzu Mu/Bighorn they use a twin optical pickup rather than the stock Piazza's poo magnetic reluctor. Finished widening my wheels look just how I wanted them to might make some 9"s I rekon I can get them under there
  3. Do a visual test of the spark put a plug in one of the leads and crank it over see if the spark is normal or way to long. I had to replace a coil when setting up my ecu it was doing exacty what your describing because of how long the coil was discharging for.
  4. Might be a fried coil does the ecu drive the coil or is it fuel only? if it does might have to look at dwell settings bad settings can make the coil discharge erratictly.

    I just set my gemini engine up for wasted spark with a Megasquirt and it wouldn't start might fire/backfire out the zorst every so often but not even close to starting. I aslo put gtr injectors in at the same time I assumed they were had it so I changed them back but same shit. In the end it was fuel fouled plugs from all the cranking and not starting while I was getting all the spark settings right. Have you tried cleaning the plugs yet I only cleaned mine because I was lost it had spark at the right time and there was fuel in the cylinders but not starting!!. Started as soon as I cleaned the plugs.

Back to the original questions Has anyone done an ignition only ECU? not personally but a mate did got 18hp atw more on the dyno then with the stock mechanical curve. This was done on a dyno which give's actuall figures not just yeah mate she goes way better. Is it worthwhile? yes it is I built my own carbi turbo setup a couple of years ago I just locked the dizzy and I was never 100% happy with that. If you use a megasquirt you will have the option to go EFI which I think you will. I have ditched the carbi turbo setup for EFI not because it was hard to tune or unreliable I actually had no probs with mine was awesome just not as good as EFI and thats an educated opinion I have built and driven both setups in the same car.
  7. I'm in the middle of sorting out wasted spark on my Gemini engine I'm running a ms1 with the extra code. Hardest part so far has been finding the best/easiest way to trigger it all. I found a dizzy that fits with a wheel that the ms1 can read so that was good no having to mess around mounting sensors on the crank etc.

  9. I have started to get the hang of tuning still got to work on the cold starts. I havn't bothered yet because the fast idle valve thats built into the falcon throttle body is to big makes it idle at about 2500rpm. While I'm at the wiring n shit i'm gonna wire in the original 4zc1 valve. I got the basic driving real good good power, resonable economy and nice and smooth cept just off idle because the vac canister was poped eg. not working its a two way canister also retards under boost which wasn't working either!! which is dodgy. This was the main reason for changing the dizzy to a 4ze1 cas type dizzy.
  10. Done a few small things lately got GTR Skyline Injectors and setting up wasted spark going to hide the coils behind the dash and make a nice ali or stainless cap for the dizzy. Cut the bumper out was a bit worried about how it would look but I'm happy. Also while I'm wiring up the wasted spark setup i'm going to completly re-wire the engine bay aswell as all the hoses fuel n vacume etc just want it to look neater. Looking at finally finnishing the borgwarner LSD conversion to am fully sick of one wheeling.
  11. Id say that was it I sold it to the young Maori boy at work he said he went to Ahipara for new years. He's sold it now to someone that lives up there. It went pretty hard not much off my 4zc1-t I reckon had less lag anyway.
  12. I've had the silver TG 10yrs next month I swapped my rolled mk2 sport for it had a worked pinto 5sp and the usuall suspension and brake upgrades. So even though it was crashed I got the Gemini with a wof and reg. The red TE Gemini I had got sold it had a carby turbo setup in it went hard for what it was. Its matt black now with 17s on it up Kaitia.
  13. I got the engine for $120 was absolutly flogged been run out of oil I think. All the bearing were fucked the turbo was seized and all the pistons were cracked. The full rebuild and conversion cost $1400 wth the ecu and intercooler included!! I'm mega stoked with how well it goes for what it cost me The wheel looks good in person just not 100% sure its the colour I want some one should photshop it for me cause I cant
  14. I didn't run one for a while but I got sick of sitting and waiting so I got one. I just got a second hand one because it wasn't for the bling that I wanted it just need it to do a job.
  15. Done a few things in the last six months car has run out of wof and reg so its off the road for a bit while I sort my wheels and hopefully finish the lsd commodore diff conversion. Piazza disk braked diff. Lots of new bush's should get some pics of them fitted because they are actually in there. Made me a lip out of a primera bumper looks choice also another engine bay pic shitty cell pics though. Got this one wheel widened to see if I like it I do so I'm gonna look for some more 3 actually so if any one knows of any there off a n14 pulsar. Gave it a quick paint to get an Idea I like it but not sure yet need to photo shop them maybe.
  16. I reckon the rb turbo will handel more than 12psi on zeps engine. Its not like it would be spinning at the same speed on 12psi as it would on the rb.
  17. My 4zc1-T I have now has a slight studder just off idle. This is because the vacuum advance canister is poked and don't work at all. This might also be whats happening to yours.
  18. In theory that's what you would think but a turbo engine still makes boost at low throttle possitions so the primary needs to be able to keep up. A blow through carbi turbo will be a bit rich off boost I found with mine that it liked to foul the plugs on long open road trips with a lot of cruising. That could be stopped by boosting for a bit every few kms though.
  19. I'm assuming its an injected G200z if so I had one in my Gemini went awesome cept for the same hesitation. I couldn't find although I never really tried. I eventually got a Megasquirt ecu for it and it still did it so I'm guessing it would have been an one of the following injector's/one of the sensor's/dizzy or vacuum advance etc.
  20. Just messed with them till it drove smooth. I have heaps of carbs ranging from 1300gt to xf falcon ones so I had quite a selection of jets. I used a 1.8 main in the primary and a 2.2 main in the secondary. Cant remember the air correctors I think it was 1.6 primary and 1.8 secondary.
  21. Yip I've gone EFI although only cause its better not because I hated the carb setup. I think most of the problems that people have is finding someone to tune it. I managed to fluke jetting mine right so I was happy.

  23. Shouldn't use anything thiner than 2.5mm mild steel for turbo manifold's. A guy I work with made one years ago out of thin tube for a CA18DET it sagged and cracked in about three weeks of town driving! I've made 6 or so from schedule 40 steam tube and there all good so far
  24. I don't use spring compressors just take the back bolt out of the control arm and push it right down. Usually need to leaver the spring out same for putting standards back in cut/lowering springs should pop in/out pretty easy.
  25. Here's a pic of what it looks like finished. Got a few bits left to sort like few horrie wire's and I'm making up a new relay box holder/washer bottle because the stock ones are ugly. Also want to get some nicer radiator hoses and blue vacuum lines. Not happy with the ride hight now the 4zc1 is heavier and I have bout 20mm travel in the front now. Its crap bottoms out on every second bump and scrapes like fuck on my driveway. Its not run in yet only running 4psi and a base tune it still goes well though has its 4psi at 2500rpm and good throttle response between the gears so I'm happy for now.
