  1. Pics don't even have any from before I started doing it up, was a heap before faded silver, primer grey and one red gaurd . As for a race well zeps gem will eat mine no worries I don't think I will run more than 10 psi its all stock bottom end so meh I would like a 2.6 injected rodeo motor to build up turbo ect would be most punishing! The shape off the TG I like the TG sedans more than TX but the TX coup I think is the best shape off all, theres one on trade me for $900

    Welder

Would't gas cut it use a plazma cutter not as much heat I would do it but don't live in Aucks.
  3. Got this car back in 97 from a local wreaker, I swaped mk MK2 sport which I had fliped th day before. Started to do things to it in 2000 I cooked the engine after splitting a heater hose on a gravel road never noticed till I stoped the next week it started making more and more noises till I pulled down. The timing chain had streached and was rubbing on the timing cover. It wore about 8mm of the cover away . Bottom end of engine was undamaged but I put new rings ect anyway. The head was well not repairable so I was told so I got a another along with new valves, guides, lighter aliminium lifters, double springs, and ofcourse a better cam grind. After all this I decided to panel and paint it . My mate is a panelbeater and a beer drinker so he did all the hard work and I made sure he had beer Its been sitting in my shed ever since then but its soon to be on the road again and turbo charged The Turbo The turbo is a very small TD-025 off a 98 VR4 in good shape only done 60-80k. I got this for free off my mate so that was a bonus. Been so small I decided to make look a bit better heres a before and after pic. The Carb Its a 32/36 off a MK3 cortina I have 5 off these carbs this one has the least shaft play ect. Done a few little things to it for turbo like dry air seals on the shafts, removing chock and sealing up holes, drilling out the power valve and changing where it gets its referance from. Carb Hat I made this up after a lot of thinking about the shape ect I think it looks cool will probably run an intercooler later on so it may have to change a bit Turbo Headers Made them from 32mm steam pipe and weld bends took about 8hrs lots of ideas went through my mind but high mount was always on the cards. The turbine dump pipe was very tricky seen as I seperated the turbine and wastegate outlets this gem will have a wastgate screamer The red Beast Bought this car as a parts car but was not to shabby so I fixed it up all it needs 2 tyres for a warrant when I get some time. I have had the turbo setup running on this car was very amusing old soft suspension and its an auto thing squats so hard it crackup. Electronic Ignition I got a RB gemini dizzy ripped the guts out and swaped them over there was a bit of fileing, grinding and drilling but not to hard a job. Dont have any good pics of my TG but heres one Thats it for now Recent work Radiator Fits mint works mint and was free! The radiator is out of a 90's Pulsar I got it from a panelbeating shop free it has some dents but it does not leak so sweet. Intake behind grill I made the intake out of a 3" nudge bar that was damaged and thrown in the bin. Also free On the cards I have scored a LSD disk braked small type salsbury diff from a early 80's commy. The bakes will fit on my Gemini diff no worries but the center is a bit more of a drama. The center is a 28 spline Gemini are only 23. May shorten and respline the commy axels if I do that will probably do a full 5 stud conversion. That will mean deep dish commy mags My other option is to see if I can interchange the side gears ect this will cost me nothing so its the first thing I'll be trying. The TG should be road leagal cert and all early next year I want it completly leagal for insurance ect. I cant lower it to much my driveway has a mean ramp angle at the top which is unfortunate seen as Geminis look mean sacked, 17 or 18" rims are a must. One of the styles I've always liked Zep has Roh ZS one of my favorite rims. Don't know what I'll end up with most 4x100 rims fit so theres a lot to pick from. Update 3/4/06 Been doing a few things of late EFI is one of them. Zep sold me a piazza manifold and I've been making my own plenum useing a EB falcon throttle body. Will be making my own fuel rail and mounts so I can use later model injectors. Got some piazza front disks and calipers for $50 which I thought was good.
  4. Run it on 96 or 98 for sure. As for the rust under the heater bubble its best to cut and plate it. I did my sport took all the dash out ect and the rust had crept along the seem. My mate cut the bubble out completly and used a sierra fan or sumfin was a while ago that spot under the bubble is real common for rust.
  5. Yeah would think they would be differant but all gems have the same floor pan suspension engine and box mounts ect. The coupes wagons and sedans are obviosly a bit differant to each other. So it may be the same seen as everything els is if you take a pic or some measurements I might be able to tell you would be interesting to know.
  6. Yeah easy as its the same hight as a standard one and a bit shorter and about one third as thick, never turned the fan on didnt have to and it doesnt have a fan on engine anymore either, got it for free from a panelbeater next to work had one small split tiged it up and its all good quite a good score seen as it fits so well. I had to make up some mount brackets only took about an hour and inlet and outlets line up perfect so no probs there.
  7. I got an aliminium radiator and electric fan out of a mid 90s pulsar keeps em cools as.
  8. If the fuel is 3 months old that will be it for sure, My gemini had gas that was bit older than that and it surged up and down real bad at idle had to adjust the mixture to compensate, but then my oldman said it would be the gas put 20 bucks in and it was sweet, had to adjust the mixture back aswell. Also happened to my lawn mower didnt mow the lawns for like 2 months
  9. Should be sweet if its what the manuel says, although 2 crank rotations should line up again
  10. I know there is at least two sized flanges I got a diff from a 1300 L and it didnt fit my 1600 sport drive shaft. No idea if it was smaller or bigger it was while back now.
  11. I spose things like gauges and coil would need to be changed everything else should be sweet. Do a google search bound to be sumfin on this sorta thing.
  12. Make sure you get a alterator with built in reg most cortinas escorts have a lucas one. On the back there should be three pins depends some are differant. One goes to the charge light should say IND or simular + ones go to the battery side of the starter solinoid and - ones just earth them. I think thats all you have to do just going off what I remember my mate doing to his MK1 escort few years back now.
  13. Webber off a 2.0 will be a bit much I would think but jets are pretty common for those carbs so just mix and match em till its right, as for power I,ve put them on an escort, laser and my gemini and you can notice a bit more grunt especially on the gemini for some reason.
  14. Ignition amplifier module sometimes called an ignighter pack.
  15. Is it electronic ign if so it could be the module they still spark when stuffed but wont fire at all.
  16. Just a get a RB dizzy or a Barina dizzy. Bit of machineing to be done You can do it all yourself if your confident with power tools. The hardest thing to do is shaving the points loebs off to a round shaft 14.2mm thick to fit the reluctor on. Should be done with a lathe but I don't have access to one so I used the side of an abrassive drop saw Heres a couple more pics.
  17. Looks good should look at converting to electronic as well for the turbo heres a pic of mine with RB gemini internals in it real simple to do.
  18. Burntrubber

    Where to get?

Pacific Motor Group sold me some about 7 years ago $45 each they only sold drivers side for some reason so I got 2 and just cut the ends off and fliped em over to fit the otherside.
  19. Webber 32/36 and fuel reg is a holly modified for boost did a few things to the carb to help with boost all seems to works good. Han'nt driven much cars not legal yet so dont realy now how good it goes.
  20. I made all my gemini turbo stuff myself gas cut flanges and 32mm weld els. I was quoted $45-60 to get the flanges profile cut which is cheap next time I do anything like this thats what I'll do seen as its a bit neater than my gas cutting. My TG 84 and TE 83 both have return and vapor lines and the TE has a standard elec fuel pump the head does'nt even have a hole for a mech pump. Makes for easy pump upgrade which I've done got a EFI pump out of a 85 Toyota Carina flows 120L per hour approx I use a holly regulator does the job nicely.
  21. Pump is a standard gemini mech fuel pump, other thing looks like a catch can.
  22. From memory g161,g180,g200 all have a stock compresion ratio of 8.3 older g161s in early geminis ect are higher 8.7 I think.
  23. Yeah not to sure what else he did think he changed the angle of the bend after the collector a bit to. But they did fit, if your handy with a welder and stuff or know someone who is it wont be hard. Oh he added about 35-40mm up at the flange from memory. Hope that helps
  24. EFI is better anything computer controlled is but I have a mate who races in a RWD corrolla with an 18R twin solex's he never has to tune it, his dad has a RWD levin with 150hp at the wheels 4age with twin webbers same thing never tunes the carbs fucks with the advance and shit every so often though. Once balanced correctly twin carbs are great in my opinion the sucking sound from a set of 45s is allmost sexual
  25. Cortina pinto headers don't fit in an esky I had a van with a pinto bought motor with headers for escort when I converted it. My dad had a MK5 corts which he rote off sold the headers off it to my mate for his 2.0 Esky but they didnt fit same thing hit the stearing. He cut them and added a bit in right up at the head flange to make em fit.
