    12th New Year Jap oldschool meet. 20th January 2019, 11am - 2pm Massey Uni, University Ave, Albany Auckland, tier carpark outside 'the ferguson'. This is an annual event held on the 3rd sunday of January. It happens to also be Kumeu Hot Rod show weekend. Loosely based on classic Japanese and Euro oldschool cars . pre 90's preferably.. But that is not strict at all. Bring your car, have a yarn, and wear sunscreen coz she's usually a scorcher! Cruise to event, meeting at either Greenlane McD's or old Westgate outside starbucks 10am ish, depart 10.30am. Those in attendance make the call when to depart. No booze, burnouts or stupidity please.     Id suggest option 2 on the rear arch patch. easier to hide the weld when it's on the arch and flat panels are more likely to warp when welding (would pretty much guarantee it will). Dab each stitch weld with a damp rag to cool it and weld in different areas to let the previous weld cool. otherwise that panel will buckle.

    Re chain tensioner... just checking that you know it is adjustable? rattle upon startup can often be cured with a tighten. 5kg of force on the spring loaded piston in the end of it should move it 0.5mm. (after rotating the crank clockwise to put the chain slack on the tensioner side). also the tensioner are cast iron and break easy so no tapping or leaning on it. Do you has 18rg workshop manual?

    ke10 and early ke2 with leaf front spring i believe had a 3 bolt steering knuckle. would be same ball joint as a KP. dont have vented disk tho. EDit: and they look totally different with ball joint sitting outside of the 3 bolts. So its not corolla knuckles.

    1g-eu manual says: Use API grade SC, SD, SE, SF or better and recommended viscosity oil. Gives a chart for recommended viscosity vs atmospheric temperture. mega frozen balls to 10'C use 5W-30. but dont. -22'C up to 30'C you could use 10-30W. 10W-40, 10W-50 starts at -22'C ish up above 38'C 15W-40, 20W-40, 20W-50 starts at -12'C ish up above 38'C. seems 15W-40 is about the sweet spot for NZ temps. oil pressure (warm) at idle speed .. more than 0.3kg/cm2 4.3psi 29kPa at 3000rpm ... 2.5 - 5.0 kg/cm2 36 - 71psi 245 - 490kPa says when bleeding lifters, dont pull them apart. gives leak down test specs.. 20kg takes 2 -7 seconds/1mm after the first 2mm.

    I wouldn't say it a big difference in power. less weight in the ae82 so be faster than your ae101. 20v needs the revs to make power. be curious to race a std fxgt! I would've gone blacktop if i had a choice but picked up a complete ae101 for dirt cheap and had the setup sitting there waiting for a chassis. Its a relatively simple conversion except for wiring which not everyone's cuppa tea. flat spot... maybe check tps position, map sensor and fpr hoses have no splits, put some injector cleaner in the tank. um, check water temp (green) sensor is plugged in nicely.

    admit to having soft spot for ae82's. learnt to drive in dads old fxgt. not much original in the one i have now. 20v ST, using ae92 superlows from memory in a mix/mash ae92/101 brakes n suspensions. rear upper spring cap needs ae92 version to fit coz different diameter. plenty 82 nutters on ae82.net yeh nz new didn't have the oxy sensor. see if you can track down the toyota yellow book for ae82 and the 1983 4age blue manual. heaps of info in them. should be able to download too.

    naw, got the hots for david eh! yeah defo do an autumn meet Ed. It usually has to conflict with another event that time of year tho. also been suggested to do a premeet and cruise to caffeine n classics. kinda makes sense since they've taken every 4th sunday off the available dates. might have to start a pole on it

    Massey Uni Albany confirmed. lower tier carpark outside The Ferguson bar (gymnasium building). left at the uni round about and first left into parking area. Cruise: If people want to cruise together to the event. The usual spots to meet are 10.15am at Greenlane Mc'D's carpark or westgate shopping center outside the ASB. leaving 10.30am which is dictated on the day by the people in attendance. (Gather yourselves together and make the call). Cheers
