  1. Ling, But as a kid my mates folks lived on the parade. They had an ms65, a Toyota grande, a 180b wagon, and two datsun sunny wagons in the time I knew him. They all boiled up with massive rusty scabs like leprosy in only a few years.

  5. Valiants (Especially pre VH) have fucking tiny trans tunnels. That box has unlimited girth where an ap5 tunnel has no space.
  6. Anyone know how the power control switch works on a mig? My dads mig only run 37a whether it's set on one, or five. Hes just replaced a ton of other bits on it. (His sparky found some.shity connections on the board too) user serviceable parts, or buy a new one? (Whenever that might be possible)
  7. What kind of bucks do these gearboxes sell for? A quick Google found some.aussie blokes talking about them. They agree that the r150 has a 5th gear made of glass. They run more overdrive than the H150 box, and if they get hot the gear explodes.
  8. Also I wouldnt fret any about a weak fifth gear. It's not like you'll be smashing into it. Even at the drags you'll never see top gear.
  9. The firewall will.also need bracing on the inboard side to prevent firewall flex.
  10. My experiences with clutches are, That a metric fuckton of thought goes into every aspect of factory clutch design. From the pedal travel, pedal sweep/arc, lever length etc. How I intend to manual convert my VJ, is to have an angled aluminum block machined up, which enables an MC to be mounted flush to the firewall where the factory push rod (to the Z bar) normally protrudes. Then run a stock pedal, and just have to fine tune the length of the flat bar (on the end of the clutch pedal shaft) that the push rod (to the z bar) normally attaches to. (To get the correct stroke length for the master cylinder) this will place the cylinder down low. But it's nothing to mount a remove reservoir higher in the engine bay. (You're not running a booster, so theres less stuff in the way) What's then easiest is to run whatever clutch set up the donor stuff used. If they're from a cruiser, then there should be some pretty heavy duty clutch options. And at a pinch you could run a billet flywheel to suit your needs.

  12. Does the car have the lower shield "bash guard" (it's not really a bash guard, but it goes where one would) the help create an area of low pressure behind the radiator to.encourage air through the radiator.

  14. Hey I seldom visit te north island goings on forum, but i popped in here to say that i saw on the book that beach hop has been moved to the very beginning of December this year? That might create a conflict? (Not for me obviously) Also max keen to do the reverse. However those gravel roads were so savage, it made me enjoy the Motu last time. (Maybe it's just easier heading towards the J-5 ranch, rather than away from?) Probably should buy that CT off @Dolantoo.
  15. I'll borrow money and bet that the rear axle seals are hard, and leaking onto the brake shoes. And the wheel cylinders will.be either seized or leaking too. Plus there's sure to be pitting in the bore of the brake master as well. Clearly a wise purchase! Were these sold in the US? Rock auto time?

  19. To start with, disconnect whichever fuel hose attaches to the nipple on the fuel rail which doesnt have the diaphram on it. (Thats the return) when the key is switched on, on most efi cars the pump primes for three seconds. Mind your eyes, cos it'll be high pressure. If no gas comes out, locate the fuel pump relay. see if it clicks when the key is switch on. If it does, like Tortose said the pump is probably coozed. (happened to the middy CRX after a 7 year park up) If you have gas at the rail, check that the plugs are sparking. If theres gas at the rail and spark, the injectors could be varnished up to shit. Costs about $25ish per injector to get them cleaned and seriveced.
