  1. If you in CHCH, I have the gear to do it with the head on. AND, I love booze. You could take advantage of this if you were smart about it.........
  2. I mite be in for that. How are we going to know who's old school though? Lets all wear black jeans and (dirty) white sneakers and huge mullets! lol don't forget the faded black metalica t shirts.
  3. Go join up at http://www.datsun.co.nz dude. We a four or five cruises a year,(And even more piss ups) and I'm sure no-one would mind a nissan as old as yours tagging along. What motor you running?
  4. Thats my b/day! I think the mrs wants to go out for tea or some shit. I want to go to the cardrona on avon (My local) and get liquored. But fuck knows really.
  5. I'm here too. I couldn't go to a meet, I'm always under my car(s).

    capri heater..

I have a 12v hairdryer, that I tries to use as a demister in my datsun. It was a wonderful thought, but it get fuucking cold here in CHCH in the winter. I'd find myself sitting at the lights with it in my lap trying to warm my hands, and demist the windscreen. Not much help I know. You could try camping stores and see what they have?
  7. I must concur with shizzl. The powerband of a J port, is so far up the rev range, that when it's doing it's thang, the seals are going to fuck out, and gall the housings. No offence, but you are pulling yourself if you want to build a fuck off death engine, with parts that are half fucked to begin with. A J needs carbon seals. end of story. Don't be a tight cunt, and do it proper. People with no money (like me) taking half arsed shortcuts, is one (Of the many) reasons why rotors have a bad rap for being unreliable piles of shit. If they didn't pull ho's no-one would bother with them. There's fuck all chance I'll own another one.
  8. Topgear at http://www.datsun1200.com, has made 103BHP with a near stock Datsun A12 using a non carbon sealed turbo and a stromberg carb running drawthrough. There is a shit load of info there about it.

    CA18-SC14

John (Skdmrx) was running a remapped factory ecu. Datsunboy (Dan ) Has an emulator that allows him to do this.

    CA18-SC14

    Yeah, CA20's are mud.

    Diff oil?

Gear oil is smelly shit. I got some on myself once. I ended up throwing away the top I was wearing under over overalls. Fuck I hate the shit. Sythetic stuff doesn't smell as bad.
  12. I'm not an expert, but they look like twin carbs off a 323. Not sure exactly what model though sorry.

Nah mate, john just used a ca18 crank. You must be thinking of someone else.

Why are you asking this here?!!!! You must surely know that there are heaps of these on the datsun site. 4trubble, 2doors, and skdmrx are/have done it. John (Skdmrx) said if he did it again, he'd use DE pistons anyway. With the lower boost levels blower set ups use, the higher comp pistons aren't really a disadvantage. Just get a proper head gasket. (Good quality metal one) People almost give away CA18de's. On sensible boost, an S/C14 will be just fine. Just do it man!!! I'm now leaning towards a screw blown CA18 for my 1600. After riding in Dan's old CA turb'd 1600, I have a new respect for them.........
  15. because supercharged motors make instant brutal torque, you'd want to tune your length for further up the rev range. With a blown motor, you just want to get rid of the extra gasses. I'd lean more towards a larger diameter primary, and in more of a medium length. Small dia long pipes are all about the down low.
  16. SD22, and SD23 don't swap easily. A guy I work with has an SD22 for sale cheap. He thought it was a 23, but they are chalk and cheese. Not a biiger engine than what you got, but be cheap.
  17. I once converted an ea81 turbo leone from auto to manual. What a CUNT of a job. It might be easier to pull the engine. Then you can see if the flywheel needs to be refaced, and it'll be much easier to get the clutch properly aligned. Those subie half shafts can be a right pain in the ass when they want to be.

    diff noises

Noise on decelertion is the pinion bearing.
  19. Sounds to me like your axles are too long.
  20. If was an epic day! We rocked down to meet the southern crew, and parked up. A POPO in an unmarked car walked staight up to me and asked if I was organising the event. (Fucked if I know how he knew that) Then he starts ranting about there being complaints about some of the driving on the way down. Blah blah blah etc. (Yawn) Had a great time. Some old dude in Methven in an S12 was waving to us as we rolled past. Had a pretty low key piss up tonite. Lots of sad cunts weren't allowed out. whipish! Got out my go Kart and did boozey laps up and down my street. there were two groups of people out in the street egging up on, and one dude came out and asked us to call it a nite. But by that time we'd blown the rear tyre doing skids, so we had no worries that Amping for the next cruise!

    Propshaft

The NZ hobby car technical manual has all the goss on tailshaft loops. I'd like to run one one day. (Shit, i'd like a lot of things) I've ussually got my old man to shorten mine for me. We sus out the length, then set up the shaft in a lathe, and used a fine parting tool to remove the factory weld onto one half of the yolk at one end. After thats out, use a parting tool again to shorten the shaft by the desired amount. The stick the shaft in the vise with a small spacer on the universal cross end cap on the untouched end with a spirit level on it. Rotate the shaft until the level is dead level. The tap the other end part way in. Lay the same spacer on the end which you're refitting and rotate untill it is dead level also. Then tap it all the way home, and reweld it to the tailshaft tube. Then re assemble the whole lot, and if you can affford it have the shaft rebalanced. I'm fairly sure providing the welds on the shaft look competent, all you need is a recipt for having had the shaft balanced.
  22. I was gunna throw that idea up in the morn, but it's ONLY an idea. We prolly rocking down to vegas. Gunna be a sick cruise! Chris is bringing a three burner on the back of his ute. I got a full car now too. Should be a magic day. Bring your camera Blair!
  23. I'm beginning to think it would make more sense for the CHCH crew to turn off at rakaia, and just meet the the Timaru/Timuka/Asburton people at methven. Otherwise we will be driving a long strech of road for the hell of it. I'm fucked if I know. It's fucking hard to organise a cruise with the club site down. I guess we'll sort something out.
  24. Glenn (510wgn) has the site down to change to a new server, so there's no problems with spam cunts or bandwidth issues. I'm climbing the fucking walls, waiting for it to come back online. Hence why I'm postwhoring here
