  1. Parrots in St Asasph St. (opposite RJ patterson)
  2. Yeah it was a blast. Thanks for that link mate. It's good to see all the numbers up there on my screen like that. So much room for improvement on my part.
  3. Hijack, but what are the differences between the 693M and the 711M? I've heard that the larger sized valves can be used as an upgrade for datsun A series.
  4. You oughta be able to get away with no cert long enough to save up for cert. Either way, you'll be going from a complete lemon of an engine, to the best pushrod four ever made. the 6 sucks so bad that when chris pulled his out on my front lawn I wanted to dry reach just at the sight of it.
  5. just get a brand new wof right before doing the conversion, then you get six months to try and find a mail order wof guy. Or save up to get cert.
  6. If the mighty A15 will bolt straight up, I wouldn't fret one bit about the gearbox mountings. Chris and I shoehorned (And I do mean shoehorned) the gargantuan G two hundy five speed into the tunnel on his Shove-it. So and A series gearbox will be a walk in the park to fit up.
  7. I had a good time. Got a big helping hand from mr Brocky to make it to the track in time. Only lost one race too. (Red lit) we got to enjoy the usual winter traction too. (fuck all lol) With a bit of luck Brock will post up some of the vids he took. There was also a very dangerous looking drag honda too. It did an insane staging burnout, and then had to be pushed off the start line. Which would have sucked for them. Worked out well for me though. I got to run off and take a slash while they cleaned up the oil down without losing my place in the staging que.
  8. ARP bolts aren't that expensive. Much cheaper than a broken rod bolt with a rod hanging out the side of the block taking the camshaft with it. But I'm all to familair with having a no dollar budget. So I can feel where you're coming from.
  9. I would have been curious. But I was busy. I hope you're going to fit ARP rodbolts for the next incarnation mate? The rod bolts that come out have probably been strecthed so fat by now that they could be mistaken for head bolts!
  10. I've read that having the line hone done is important with ARP's. They actually give increased clamping force on the main cap once they're tightened. (More clamping than would be acheived with the OEM bolts at the same torque) So the shape can alter. As Clint said, you may well get away with it, but it's your call. I don't see why you'd spend the money on the bolts and not have it done.
  11. Nice build man. I love you reversing light! If it were my car, I'd wire up a sneaky switch so that you can flash it at tailgaters. Not exactly legal, but lots of fun. I used to run a switch on one of my old 1200's. If someone parked up my arse at a red light, id switch on my back up lights, peel out when the light went green. They'd be bracing for impact in my rear veiw.
  12. You can get your car tech inspected by a local guy if you have no wof. I think it costs $60ish. I need to double check with the club that tech'd cars will be allowed at the these meets. PM me if you'd like the tech inspectors PH number.
  13. NOTE! I'm told that gates open at 2pm for racers. Racing from 3pm. Don't be late if your racing.
  14. I hope you do get those mounts mate. Then you'll be able to replace the fail-tastic 1256 with an infinitely superior Datsmo powerplant. The best part being with a few small mods you'l be able to smoke mr CUL8ers G200-a-fied shove-it.
  15. So did you get the mounts with that shell Andrew?
  16. God I would love to do one. If only my car wasn't so far away from being track-able.
  17. agree I was gonna sugest fuel drainback too.
  18. In a heavier shell like a shove-it (well, they're heay compared to a datsun 1200) you'll go better with the 56a four speed. They have a shorter 2nd gear which is a bit less of a jump from 1st. So they pull a bit harder down low.
  19. do you mean an A15? if so the mounts would work for an A12 straight bolt in. You can get sweet running A12's for piss money, and even a smoked A12 would own a 1265. (even with one plug wire pulled off)
  20. so, what are your plans to repower this with? i've raced against one of these with an FJ20et at ruapuna a few times. I smoked him once, and then he got his launched dialed and owned me repeatedly.
  21. spools or locky's with BW's result in snapped axles. (at least in Vals anyway)

  23. Vals are definately 25 spline. BW diffs are a great big fail IMO. Although they reckon the four pinion ones are less shit.
