  1. Who knows? From what I heard, there were a few tracks that had expressed dissatifaction with some of their dealings with the NZDRA. All I want is the sport to be affordable. And for the sanctioning body (Whoever that is) to treat the clubs who run the events for us (The racers) in a fair and decent manor. I can see the NZDRA's predicament with their national series. The comp cars get people through the gate, but the street cars keep the sport going. Grassroots is where it's at for me. I can't speak for other tracks, but street cars make up most of the racers. Perhaps with a new sanctioning body, and some new ideas more people may be encouraged to take up the sport. CHCH is full of bogans. Every man and his dog has a car, or is building one. Yet some street meets have seen a lacklusture turnout. A change is as good as a holiday.
  2. I think its an endfloat issue. On overrun the thrust goes the other way to on power. Without looking at a picture of a gear box, (The inside of it!) I couldn't say whether or not it's worn syncho's that are causing it. You might be able to tighten up the detaunts to help hold it in gear better, but that;l make it harder to select 3rd and 4th. (And it might not fix it anyway)
  3. BBQ's are all good. So are pubs. man I wish my local hadn't been annihilated in the fucking earthquake. Could be a bit chilly for BBQs this time of year.
  4. Is it worth sticking with the 1st friday meet?
  5. Some of the regular guys on here already have a regular thursday drinking engagement.
  6. This has been a long time coming. I attended a few pbdrc meeting over a season or so. (And narrowly escaped becoming a committee member myself) I have to say the stories I heard about how the NZDRA were treating the tracks, were dissapointing. I did read part of the thread at the NZV8 forums about this impending change. Seemed like the people who liked the NZDRA were completely oblivious to how everyone else felt they were being treated. The thing that ground my gears was that at the last NZDRA national event held at ruapuna, the entry fees were jacked up so much I literally couldn't afford to race. (It was $100!) This year, since the NZDRA gave that meeting to the NBDRC, pegasus bay held their own "BIG" meet. The fees were no different to any other meeting, the track was prepped beautifully by Trev, and I equaled my PB. The whole thing meeting was fantastic. I know for sure that at least one other regular racer couldn't race at that national meeting due to the cost too. That kind of thing is counterproductive to the sport.
  7. Sudden pressure drop like that can fuck Aluminuim radiators. They dont have the spine that copper ones do.
  8. hahaha! Actually, my neighbours are pretty sweet. It would take quite a bit for them to think that.
  9. I did flush the block via the heater hoses with the garden hose on full. I am leaning toward trying the shit in a bottle. Driving to work today, the heater was better. But not as sweet as it was when I first had the two cores cleaned out. I bought the engine off a bogan from rangiora, and used antifreeze and shit. The shite must have come from inside the engine me thinks.
  10. My car doesn't overheat, it's just the coolant is a really crappy colour, and my heater isn't as warm as I'd like.
  11. With the t/stat out, it wont be able to reach temprature. Also is that soda shit safe for aluminium radiators?
  12. Can anyone confirm if any of the cooling sytem flush stuff actually works or not? My A31 shitfiro has a really crap filld cooling system. A while back i had the radiator cleaned out, and new tanks fitted. As well as taking out the whole dashboard, and pulling the heater apart to fit a reconditioned heater core too. (That was a fucking cunt of a job!) Anyway fast forward a couple of years, and my once epic heater is now shit again. It's begining to get cold here, so I need it to be epic again. I pulled the hoses off and ran the garden hose through the core both ways a few times, and through the block via the heater hoses both ways a couple times too. Now the heater is a bit less shit. But I want it to be meke as. So whats the best shit to use to clean the shit out?
  13. This is relevant to my interests for future possibilities On a holley you need to externally reference the power valve(s). I also had to fit a small spring kit to my accelerator pump check needle to prevent the air speed through the venturi syphoning fuel out the discharge nozzles.
  14. You oughta take your speedometer to E parrot and sons (If they still exsist) And get them to recalibrate it to read in miles per hour instead of KPH. Having such a low top end on your speeo will will a pain in the arse when you're doing a decent road trip of any kind.
  15. Looking good Hogan. I'd definately suggest you consider header wrapping the top part of you headers, and foam lagging the supercharger discharge pipe then going over the foam with that pure aluminuim foil tape to keep the pipe from getting too hot as it crosses over the motor. Are you planning to run the 32/36, or a single sidedraft carb? I run a holley on my s/c datto. It runs fine, and uses less fuel than it did with the 32/36 weber. Although to run properly, I had to do a few modifications to make the carb drawtrhough compatable.
  16. Don't paint it. Get a wof for it the way it is, and see how many times you can get pulled over.
  17. With a cheap link, and the TBI, you could unlock some crazy horsepower Karl. I'll txt you up tommorrow. PS, given your addiction to old corty's, you'll fit in with those bogans like they're youre family you were separated from at birth!
  18. Excellent! I'm thinking maybe we should go see Simon tommorrow evening and pick his brains about the costs involved in running the TBI that his pinto van has.
  19. I meant Y40. (was thinking of the newer Nis v8's with their 41's.
  20. There was an old coot down here who rolled a Y41 V8 with lotsa coin spent on it in a moggy minor at the drags. It was lotsa noise, but it was inconsistant as fuck. Plus his PB was slower thsn mine. which makes me
  21. Also, the Y series motors only have a 3 main crank. So if you want to rev to 6k+. fit an RB yo! (Otherwise the crank will snap)
