Dunno what my old mans done to his, but you can launch it and it pops the front wheels off the deck. Has had the mad horsepower upgrade, bigger Honda OHV motor ftw.

Dynoed today at 78kw at the front wheels, 325nm of torque pretty much available from 1500rpm through to 5000rpm. Reasonably happy, especially considering it cracked 100hp with a bog standard 1.7.

Brakes are for pussies. Compression locking ftw.

Waste of valuable gas. Use CRC ina can. just spray alot around the manifold seals. itll show leaks Gas = cheaper than CRC lol.

To check manifold leaks, get a sqeezy bottle with petrol or something similar and squeeze a bit of fluid around the manifold gaskets etc. Will bubble if it's leaking.

No manifold leaks intake or exhaust? Are all your earths in good condition? I don't know a lot about Escort engines, but is the valve clearance adjustable? It's possible you have a tight tappet or something causing a valve to not seal properly. Unlikely but gotta float all the ideas. Try the carb first, strip it down, clean with CRC Carb Kleen (farkin good shit) and reassemble. I feel your pain. My KP has a miss under light load at cruising speed, it's got me fucked eh. Tried absolutely everything.

Step one. Make sure all your earths are spot on ie. CLEAN. Cannot stress this enough, earths seem to cause mega heaps of issues if they're not ok. Also, grab some heatshrink, I prefer it over electrical tape for sealing splices in wires. Try and find a decent pair for auto wire strippers - I have a pair I bought from Jaycar aaaages ago when I worked there, they'll strip wire up to 8awg so a good range there. They are a mint labour saving device. As for good sidies, get some decent sized ones, like 180mm or larger, small ones = crap. If possible a ratcheting crimp tool is the go... nice, solid effortless crimps. If you want some tools flick me a list and I'll price some for ya.

pug has monroe gt gas all round. only 18 months or so old, fuck all mileage on them (bout 20km) and a couple are *just* leaking (getting damp around the seal. gay. and they all rattle. i'd never hit monroe as a rule. wouldnt reccomend anyone else to either. price difference between them and kyb is dick all i'd imagine Tru... fuck eh, mine have got about 12km on em thus far, rears are great, front cheap-ass Monroe originals are shitted, fuck they're crap. KYB's going in the front anyways. Bilstein ftw.... the ones in the front of the Alfa have lasted the distance, no leakage as yet and they've done some km's......

Yeah I was about to say, look at the sway bars first if it's roll you want to combat. Gotta be something easily available for the front, if not, go the double swaybar route (cheap etc). Flag nolathane bushes in the front, well IMO anyway, I found they made the ride too harsh, felt everything thorugh the wheel. KYB's have a pretty good rep, I've got Monroe GT Gas in the Starlet and I'm pretty happy with them as well, stay away from the Monroe Original shocks, they're rubbish.
