  1. hi lowfreq, sorry man, i dont know you as such, ive been reading your build up thread and your "stretched tire" part, i've got 10inch wide 15" rims, trying to see what would be a good tire to stretch on it, tried to PM you, damn site isnt sending them. on your pic's you had 205/60s on your 10" rims? i was after a less extreme stretch, a 216/60 or 225/60, what are your views or suggestions dude? PM if you want dude. cheers 2dr73xa
  2. underhood engine fires!, had some header wrap on, unbeknownist to me, i had an oil leak which pooled and collected on the header wrap...... went for a drive, headers got hot, and the header wrap and the oil caught fire!!!........ thank F@#K for the $29 i spent on a lil fire extinguisher!

    Bumpstops

cut them to just bigger than you want them, then use a angle grinder with a grinding disk and round/smooth them, or if you have a wood working sanding disk available use that its better, i just tacked them to my work bench (to hold them in place) then ground/rounded them to the height i wanted and made them look nice and smooth, not all half ar5ed.
  4. was the corvette up for sale in blockhouse bay recently? pass, his one is a late 80's type vet. havent seen talked to him in bout a month.
  5. i have a mate who has a matt black corvette, he said its easy to touch up but it scratches easy and it doesnt hide dents as well as people think.

  9. im thinking of adding a leaf to my springs to toughen up my ride, bit soft in the rear springs, will the crowd you mention do that aswell?
  10. what fuelling system you gonna use? carb? if your gonna go a small holley, try a 3-71 or maybe a 4-71, but a 3-71 would be better, you can get them at truck wreckers, and get them reconditioned, places like ALs blowers can do that, are you gonna side sling it or have the huffer sitting out ya bonnet? that one listed in the reply above looks kinda sweet for your needs
  11. yes i know......... but i ddint have all day to go into lifters and solid lifters, mechanical lifters....etc... and anti pump lifters and roller cams and sh1t+........... you could always go into it now if you want........ feel free

    Vibrating car

maybe check the drive shaft lenght and, if its a bit to short it wont fit in the trans properly.......and will wobble, does the car vibrate in neutral? if so then its not the drive shaft, then maybe check your engine mounts....... cheers
  13. pushrods = a link between the lobs from the cams direct to the roller rockers, when the lob on the cam comes around it lifts the pushrod up, which transfers the momentum to the roller rocker which then opens the valve into the cylinder......... dude, go have a read of a basic automotive engineering book, that will help heaps.......if you think pushrods are hard to understand...... wait to you get to dizzys and vacuum advanced timing.....!!!

    DIFF RATIO

ask the guy your getting your cam of what the cams specs are, ie when your most power/torque comes in, he may recommend a ratio that will compliment the cam etc.
  17. you can buy kits with minimal worries..... gotto your local "performance" car parts shop and ask if thy can find a kit for it, mallory make a few. and yes it will improve morning starts and your ideal..... its a good mod.
  18. just keep an eye on ya spark plugs when you use the "squirts" if fowls them up faster than normal. and gas wise, i try to use Gulfs 97.5, doesn't have all the added crud that kiwi made gas does (its made in singapore)
  19. just out of curousity, what is the turn out like at the "meetings" gatherings etc? and do many of the members hang out as such with each other? or are we all sort of net/cyber nerds?
  20. get an electric fan maybe, and a electric water pump, a water pump and fan can drain as much as 20-30 hp. (you could go an electric fuel pump to, same principle, but that might be an overkill for a 1300. try to drop weight, look for sh1t the car really doesnt need, carpet underlay, extra metal brackets that dont hold jack anymore, small space saver wheel, even a smaller jack (aslong as it can take the weight of the car) an oil cooler (keep the oil cool and it will do its job better and take stress/heat of the crank....... less friction=more power) if you was after exhaleration, maybe a smaller diameter rear tyre (but it will lower the car) its like riding a bike when your a kid, "small legs have trouble spining big wheels" anser "make wheels small - they turn faster. try, heat wrapping the headers, keeps the heat in the headers and outta the engine bay, HPC if you got the coin. heat is the enemy! thats about all i think off at the mo..... but as the guys said, cam spec/grind extrators A MUST! better fllowing intake, and more gas ie bigger carb, and do the standard K&N thing. nuff said! have fun

    Leaf Springs

you can get the sprins re-set, which is what i did, proffessionally mind you, wasn't that expensive. lowering blocks aren't that bad, doesn't make it handle as flash but lowering doesn't always do that either. just remember, do what ever you want to ya car, legal or illegal, but if your in an accident, and the insurance people or cops check ya car, and you have illegal work on ya wheels that you knowingly did/know about....... your insurance might not pay up (they are barstards like that)........ and the cops might say "are that was the cause of the accident"...... and your ar5e is theirs!
  22. EFI, carbs usually dont like the cold, electronic dizzy's do help.
  23. yep electronics the way to go, add a "kit" to mine and the old 8 banger goes allot smoother now, ideals allot easier and is sh1t loads easier to start.........
  24. if it happened over night check your plugs and leds and dizzy, might be some moisture in the cap maybe...........
  25. mmmmmmm just a thought, but now you have kinda discussed where and how all your alarms and switches work, whats to stop a devo car thief reading this for, coming to a meet, finding out whos who, matching that to car plates getting address....... and doing off with your "unstealable" cars........... now your've told everyone...... and this thread will stay up for a long time......... if you wanted to talk about it with someone, try PM'ing them, then its between you and him and if you dont know him....... dont reply!........ and the thing with "10 switches" all you need to do is take of the panel with all the switches on look behind it and bridge the switchs, cut the wire to the first switch and connect it to the last switch, by passing all the drama, remember, a switch will start and end in the same place usually, if you cut into the ignition that is usually where your wiring to that circuit will start and finish, so.....a thief will, look under the dash, see if any wires are leading off into/under the carpet or into panels that possibly shouldn't be and cut, twist and carry on, also, some pros will just get your car towed with a truck they have "borrow" and sort out the finer sh@t in a workshop...... if somebody wants your car bad enough...... he'll get it, all it takes is time..... how much time he's willing to spend to take it.......... can u get an ahmen!?
