  1. In all honesty, the meetings and gatherings have had an absolutely shit turn out. I've (and I think the others have) had a good time, but we really have needed more people. My question: How does an SU carb work?
  2. I run my car on Ultimate, seems to go better than other petrols.

    Spacers?...

Yea, they are illigal. Sounds like you got the wrong offset wheels, man.

    Locking Diffs

ok, this is getting stupid. Locking now before it get out of hand or something. Doing the job as the mod.
  5. 90hp from the original should get the car going along pretty sweet. Maybe it just needs a good tune. My gem makes about 80hp at the fly in stock form and with exhaust/extractors and a filter i'm happy to say it's rather swift (has just been tuned too). So the celest can't be that slow.

    soup it boi

Comming from an 'i don't know shit all about esky engines' perspective, I'd say that dropping a 1300 head on a 1600 should raise the compression, might not even need to use the 1300 pistons. Although, don't take that as advice, best you hear it from someone who knows.
  7. Well first you'll have to buy some twin carbs, which don't usually come cheap. But after that, as long as you have the manifold and the linkages, you should be away (after a good tune). If you want to try another option, you could grab a weber from another car like a cortina or something. I know the XF falcons came with 34ADM Webers which seem to make any engine up to about 1600cc run pretty sweet. A shop like Weberspecs should be able to sell you the adapter plate / manifold, which ever you need.
  8. So you're saying they just popped in with no rail or mounting mods at all?
  9. Let us know how it goes, others might be keen on doing something similar.

Is it a 1.6 or a 1.3? Try starting with: Extractors and exhaust and a better carb (weber). Should help things a bit. Someone else should know which kind of carb would be best to use.
  11. I bet jerm'd be keen on getting his hands on that engine

I'm sure repco sells a sprayer kit for pretty cheep if you don't have one.

    Locking Diffs

Yea, it is illigal. And if you don't wanna put up with tyre screeching at every slow moving turn, not worth it.
  14. Don't worry about it man. You can start new topics tho..
  15. man thats mint as. I'd love to see what the rest of your car turns out like
  16. Why dont you savea bit of case and get the 1300 head ported out a bit, or if you're keen, there are DIY guides on the net. That way you get larger ports and a higher compression.

    Polishing wheels

mean, you finally got some tridents
  19. I found my problem, the far right scuttle try lets water straight into the engine bay right on top of my hole in the firewall where i let tacho wires and stuff go through, damn hole!
  20. Have a look around the windscreen seal, might be getting in there. I'm also getting leaks in my gem, when there's heavy rain I get drips comming from under the dash onto my feet, I can't find the problem either :S
  21. A custom dash would be the way to go then, wouldn't it? Lots of cars seem to have them these days...

    Interior changing

Take a look in the trader, or check out a Honda wrecker, seats from integra's arn't that bad and should be pretty cheep to pick up. Just take a look in cars on the side of the road and see if you like the seats, then visit a wrecker of that brand. You will probably have to get the seats professionally installed just to be safe as well, hopefully thats not too much.
  23. Apparantly it's not all that easy aye man, I have seen one rotor escort, fucking mean tho. An auto one might help you bit, but i guess you don't have that..

    kill kill kill

... chances of a car theif having done bursary stats, rather low Just one or two should be sufficiant, if it dosent start the first time, the theif isnt gonna hang around too long to figure out where hidden switches are (lets hope).
