  1. i had a thought something along the same lines, but instead of using a quaife box i was toying with the idea of putting in a mini ring gear off the driveshaft/input shaft somewhere and using a starter motor as the reverse..not like you need to use it much ae.. was thinking more like a r1 motor and a turbo set up...
  2. no,theyr racetech seats, proper buckets.. being a 4dr i dont need to have recliners Gaz:did you mean you may some mounts to suit?
  3. has anyone here put raceseats into an escort before? how were they mounted etc? just got myself a pair of racetech seats for fuk all $$$ totally stoked, just need to get them mounted now..

i think putting in a extra hoop in a factory 2 piece system i bogus..the carrier should never fail,no shoul the uni there,if it does the driveshat would just fall out of the box and tumble away, and if your car has that much power to bust a shaft then itll be too low to go flying out the side anyway.. IMO just one hoop at the front is enough
  5. basically havent done anything for a while...its just been parked up,although i got a new tyre for it today, will take it for a wof next week, hopefully it wont need too much shit done to it,maybe just a new seat belt, its a non retracting belt,so i may flog one from the back of an old van i use as a storage shed anyway, heres a decent pic of the side of it..it needs to lowered and a decent paint, the matt black is real thin and oxidised..basically its a shit paint job..cant wait to fix that up...but thatll have to wait till i get the 10a mounted etc, then ill haul it back out to paint it...

yeah a hoop...a driveshaft hoop, goes under your driveshaft mounted to the body so if the front yoke fails for some reason it stops the driveshaft from dropping onto the road and digging in causing your car to polevault into the air destroying itself and anyone else around it..sounds fun ae..

definately not an area that needs to be done on the cheap,ie in the shed and balanced with hose clamps(seen it done before) ive always just measured from the face of the diff flange to the end of the gearbox, gave that measurement to an engineer and hey presto, new balanced driveshaft for around $150.. ADL do a good job too,but theyr more like $350 from memory to change yokes over etc.. cheap to just shorten it though..im gonna have to do the same soon..
  9. 10a arrived today..looks all good, apex seals are intact, has good compression..no leaks anywhere. gearbox is quite small compared to what i was expecting..
  10. 10a arrived today.... gearbox seems fairly small...so shouldnt be a huge problem
  11. that ex lancer is sick...any info on that? whats with the holden ute hillbilly mover?the orange 8 wheeled beast..
  12. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =137535913 have a look at this escort...exactly what i had in mind.. itll work, and i WONT need to modify the pedal box to do it,or mess with the stock clutch cable.. to me it doesnt look like the tunnel has been chopped, what do you guys think?
  13. should be here tomorrow or monday
  14. yeah, its complete, even has headers.. just need a decent radiator now and oil cooler and hoses..got everything else.. thinking of rigging up a cable clutch system to see if itll work before having to put in a hyd unit..got some ideas in mind for it..
  15. already got a 10a,it turns up in 2days.. any idea where to locate the PDF?
  16. this is sick... definately big flares, deepest dish possible, stretched tyres, exhaust on a mass angle....
  17. just an update... sold the 40mm side draft,so got some spare $$$ in the bank.. still deciding on the colour to paint it,thinking either the graphite grey,or a plum red, sort of like a dark burgandy/purple or whatever.. will probably keep the chromies that are on it,as i cant find any 3 piece deepdish rims for it being a british oldschooler... the 10a arrives later this week will just give it a clean up on the outside, maybe even paint the end plates to make t a little bit flashier.. need to find another 205/60 so i can actually take it for a wof check..pain in the butt being on the coast, you have to drive for hours to get anywhere and no-one has what you need.. just need a buyer for the old 1300 and box so i dont have stuff sitting around home(no shed to put it in) once i get a wof ill put the 10a in it,do any mods needed to the trans tunnel/firewall,then slam it hard, ill most likely try to get the front guards rolled so it doesnt gash my tyres.then ill paint it..then chuck in some nice seats, guages then cert for it all...and done, just cruise it.. in the long term id like to rebuild it with a nice bridgeport, nothing too massive, dont want to go into the water jackets/seals etc..drillport?hmmm NAH! i found a site that had ford motorsport guages for sale but cant seem to find it again, theyr super sexy, but real $$$$$pricey... will start putting up pics once everything starts to come together.
  18. pick a part is cheap cos you take it off yourself.. you can choose the tidiest one your after too usually out of 5 different cars there... or if your cunning you can turn it into nick a part and throw it over the fence pick it on your way out... not saying that i have or havent done this...
  19. im not worried why people dont do 10as,they werent a very highly produced engine..makes it rare....or unique.. well the plan is to wait till the engine and box is here, ill throw it in the hole to see if itll fit without having to cut anything.. the box does look a little smaller than a s1 box,so im hoping itll fit ok..
  20. yup, needs to be olive green with a gold star on the door.. pretty cool indeed.. get soem monster wide feet for it
  21. if you use laquer paint, youll do a clear.. dont need to with 2pak.. laquer is the easiest to spray for an ametuer,i found anyway. once your happy with the panelwork.. spray a couple of coats of primer not sure if this is the best or not but i gave mine a quick 2000 grit sand off then sprayed the colour,3-4 coats. then the clear,3-4 coats,i had a pearl mixed in with my clear too.. let it dry/harden,then give it a cut n polish.. this is the part i got stuck on.ive been watching american hotrod.. and they do a colour sand wet n dry..i take it that you use the highest grit number possible, use plenty of water and give it a light sand all over to get out any orange peel/dimples/spots or any bugs that land on it if you paint in your driveway... then buff it with a buffing wheel and buffing compound..
  22. dirty old 1300 crossflow will be coming out now, gonna be replaced by a 10a rotary....1L of power the gearbox i reacon looks like i wont need to do too much modding ae.. the noise maker..
  23. they could be a new production made rx4 housing..definately not s4/5 cos they arent compatible with 12a plates cos the water seal grooves changed from being in the housing to being in the end plates... how bout s3 13b....
