  1. A good idea might be to put a diode circuit in too to keep the 2 batteries separate. Then you can run your audio with the car off and not worry about flattening your cranking battery.
  2. I'd really like to put Karl's diesel ced on a dyno and see what sort of power and torques it makes.
  3. Just saw that the Cromwell classic car show is on the same day. Bollocks. Oh well I probably would have spent all my money by then and couldn't travel anyway.
  4. Rully? First time I've heard bad things about them. Been told a few yarns about chamberlains having questionable quality at times.
  5. I've had leaves made by Bellamy and East in CHCH. Good bunch of guys with oldschool kit.
  6. dis car /Seem to be spamming the fred a bit
  7. Poor explanation on my part. The cars diff ratio meant you selected 5th at about 80kms and accelerated to 100. Most gearboxes don't like that. Causes premature wear and eventually failure. The amount of noise that box made it was sure to go poof sooner rather than later.
  8. The one in @- i5oogt - diesel ced went poof down the tunnel road. Need a tall diff th avoid accelerating in 5th to solve that problem.
  9. I kinda want to keep the 3 speed column box so taller the better. Standard 260c is 4.1. 5 speed box will make it go better but doesn't have that cool column factor.
  10. Forgot about the driveshaft. Yeah that will throw a spanner in the works. Need to find some tall h190 diffs.
  11. Yeah. Was planning on putting a Toyota F series diff in my cedric because they're dime a dozen and easier to get taller ratios.
  12. Whats the interpretation of the High stop light rules? to quote NZTA's VIRM "A class MA vehicle first registered or manufactured on or after 1 January 1990 must be fitted with one or two high-mounted stop lamps." I take that as pre 1990 vehicles don't need one. And welding new spring perches on a diff. Cert or nocert?
  13. Phosphorus acid works bloody well and I think is cheaper and a hell of a lot more powerful than citric acid.
  14. +1 for Barts idea. And it means i can walk there and get horribly pissed.
  15. For some reason I've still got this and I finally found time to put it on the hoist. now time to change the oil. err how the fuck does this work? Hang on I've got an idea Almost got the fucking thing out 15 minutes later and the fucker is out. The new filter is a little shorter an went in without fuss. 14000k between changes... seems legit. Shit in the radiator seems a little rough too I had to get some coolant and fell prey to the $1 stand next to the counter. Now your car smells like Skyline? But its all class on the street
  16. Anyone who is keen for a convoy there is a group meeting in the Morehouse ave countdown carpark at 2pm
  17. @Tumeke Do you want a pretty mint spare front?
  18. @- i5oogt - has been kind enough to lend me his rolling coal Cedric for the week to use as a guinea pig for my apprenticeship and do a little servicing work. So I've changed the brake fluid and bleed the air out of the system - Yes Karl there was air in them -, replaced the diesel filter, worked out the headlight wiring and started to clean the corrosion off the terminals, and made new headlight wiring harnesses out of some fancy cotton covered wire out of the scraps draw. Due to the hoist at work shitting itself today I'll have to finish the service in the weekend on a friends hoist. And I took the car for a little cruise Also I plumbed the boost gauge in at lunch today. Karl doesn't know the boost figure yet. So here it is Its a little poos. More work to be done, Don't worry mate your car is in good hands. And you're never late with an LD28.

  20. Any good ideas for a twin exhaust system for a L26? I want my Cedric to roar like a Z when I bury the noisey pedal but still cruise at 100 nicely.
  21. Shit finally. last page was getting a little slow on my laptop. Anyway after that 80s banger we have some pics Turns out the TEA is a little light to pick the front of the Cedric up so we had to do it with a jack like normal people Any way I gave Red a hose off with the waterblaster And then found somewhere to park it so I could leave the window down to let the inside air out. Doesn't it look smart on those wheels Plus look at this awesome tune player parading around its transistors So nothing really stunning has gone on I more felt like uploading some more pics of the car to the interwebs. I crawled under the car and it looks pretty good underneath. Ill probably drop the front subframe and rear suspension out to give them a lick of paint and tidy up the engine bay. I think i need to make a todo list. Ok I'm done, you can go back to your life now.
