  1. Well I didn't make it to Burt Munro but I have been riding the piss out of it. Last month while riding back from Lake Ferry I had a bad "ping" that I could not tune out with the manual timing advance. So when I got home I pulled the primary and set up a Deg. wheel to check timing. Glad I did because I found the primary chain master link was missing half of it and three of the chain rollers where broken off. Installed a new chain and reset the timing to 32 deg fully advanced. Well see next weekend if it made those noises go away. Once this is worked out I can fix my car
  2. I heard the last one had over 500 bikes show up. They expect over a 1000 this time around. Should be good
  3. Hoping to ride the Matchless over, but will be none the less
  4. Well it was made from a nifty fifty honda so it is petrol powered, I just assumed the laws would be different. They have all those signs down by the river that say no recreational vehicles. I was hoping to take him on longer rides while I ride my bicycle but just didn't want to have issues. Cool! I haven't had a problem with cops yet, I think I'm just used to the cops back in the US being complete pricks.
  5. I have been taking him down by the river but I don't want to get hassled by the cops. I also don't want it taken from him or impounded. It doesn't go more then 15kph. Are there open riding areas around?
  6. Things like this make me wish I had a Estate instead of a Saloon.
  7. We used to fill up at airports all the time. Mainly because the pump gas in CA was shit but you could still get high octane leaded fuel at the airport. You guys are lucky here the pump gas is great!
  8. You will want it to sit with the lower raile going upward in the front by about 1 to 2 inches. when you are not sitting on it. If ont they tend to smash the front of the frame into the pavement when going into petrol stations. I have made that mistake before.
  9. That is the same thing I have to do to my Matchless. They got me on the fact my light was made to a later spec then the year of my bike. So to keep it I would have to add turn indicators to it.
  10. Man at Southwards Auto jumble sunday a guy had the perfect king queen two piece seat that would have fit this bike perfect
  11. Found out the other day it is the first day of BMX so I will be taking the kid to race if there is no rain. I was looking forward to doing a "Cruz" for once. Oh well.
  12. Pretty sweet. I thought that if they had better fuel consumsion they would have sold alot better. Nothing like big torque V-twins and windy roads.
  13. I plan to stop in ChCh on the way down. I want to see Smash Palace if they are still open then. It would be cool to meet up. I would like to check out your bike in person.
  14. I was able to repair the fork tube so that was good but the motor was smoking to bad to pass. I was unable to find the correct piston rings so I found som for the correct bore size and remachined the pistons to hold them. I also machined the valve guides to run seals. I just see time ticking away and I plan on riding to the Burt Munro Challenge in Nov. Riding down the South Island by myself. That makes me really want to finish this soon so I have time to work out any bugs before I leave. .
  15. Wow I have always wanted a BSA bicycle.
  16. I figured I shouldn't because this is all old stuff and I didn't want to waste space. I do have one on my Matchless but since I work on motorcycles all day the last thing I want to do is work on them when I get home so I have yet done enough to update it.
  17. I didn't figure it in on this bike and the first time I rode it into a Gas Station at speed the front wheel rode in fine but then the frame rails smashed into the sidewalk. The sad part is the next bike I built i made shorter but still did not figure in the rider weight and hitting a bump so I smashed it to going into a gas station.
  18. Looks like the offset is right. If the top end was off the center of your flywheels should be in line with the frame center. The primary sticking way out just makes them look off. Also once you lower them it makes it hard to turn to the left. It is funny because back in the States our Hoda chops all had Standard ( Imperial) hardware with just little bits of metric bolts reused from the stock bike. One other tip if you didn't figure it in already is to order your fork tubes 1" to 2" longer then they are when it sits where you want it because once you add your weight and hitting a bump it keeps you from smashing the frame rails. It is nice to Chops being made here. I really thought that was somthing that just was not done here at all.
  19. If I can figure out my over heating issue, I will be driving up
