'80S KID Part II: Ed's AW11 SC chit-chat
TimShadboltfan27 replied to 0R10N's topic in Project Discussion
sweet pics! the gentle annie is a lush drive. it only gets a million times better from that bridge! would have easily helped yourself to some roadside snow along the way. would love to do it in a car like yours, a golf or fxgt etc, hi-roofed hiace vans make for quite the body roll on some of those corners -
Hey team, thought that a good ol' meet up and cruise to a country pub would surely get the presence of old school going in the heart of the south! After a few recommendations, we will be cruising to Chatto Creek Tavern, halfway between Omakau and Alexandra. good old fashioned country tavern with cold beers on tap and good food in the kitchen. Alex will be a good meet up point for people coming from Southland and across from Dunedin, so we will meet at the old bridge from 12:30 and convoy to Chatto Creek from there at 1:00pm. park up spot on Rivers Street below: Will definitely be a good time, bring an old(ish) car, and a good sharn for a grouse Central Otago afternoon. if some are willing we could cruise further along on the rail trail and back in to alex. Or if any locals care to share some good roads I'm all ears. Open for suggestions in this thread, if the time's an issue or anything like that. if you're keen to tag along express interest below so i can confirm numbers for the lovely lady at the Tavern. Hopefully we can make this a monthly thing! Enjoy!

so i may have locked something in. will make a fred tonight!

my tuppence also suggests a separate meat. im leaning towards sunday 18th september. i will ring the chatto creek tav tomorrow and lock it in. you guys sweet with that date?
-
bit of hi tensile bar that was lying around work. couple of measuremince, bang each end in the press and was mint. handled better than the rooted shocks that were on it to begin with haha
-
welp, they have a DB sign out front, im sold. saturday or sunday? im thinking the weekend of 17th/18th
-
Pick up old man kyteler and take him for a stroll. Whats the name of this tav?
-
haha i like these suggestions! keen to explore the pigroot, omakau sounds like a good spot. you southerners keen for a good ol mission?
-
yeah for sure. i would at least like to get a few more peeps interested! keen to hear others suggestions, any attractions around the area, cheapest jugs that arent ya mums and such
-
it appears i was not, as you were! can we do 17th? Edit: going for a sunday drive could be the go also!
-
that be a wednesday Jim. ima arbitrarily say the 20th. gives errone enough time to get their lives sorted/more people to find out, and enough time to forget about it lol
-
Saturday/sunday in a few weeks time work for everyone? i will talk to my old boy valuer who lives in alex, has hookups to the country club, chahoo etc. or can anyone suggest a grouse eatery in Alex/Clyde? park up by the old bridge, then roll into establishment for beverages and canapes kinda dumb that i also don't have proper OS car, and my gp125 would explode before it got out of the gorge. im sure me and Dane will find solace in our late 20th Century BMWs
-
hey four people, that's a good start. im sure kiwi808 will be keen for a gander. weekends work fine with most you lot?
-
how far y'all keen to mission? come all the way to Qtown or maybe somewhere like Alex for a round of DB's at the RSA?

Distinguished Gentleman's Ride AKL 2016
TimShadboltfan27 replied to GuyWithAviators's topic in Upper North Island Region
Anyone doing the CHCH ride? ken -
i am extremely jealous know where i could get a rear cut and turn my sedan into touring

i was always intruiged by that aution, $1 reserve from a dealer claiming no warranties or whatever. i just assumed it was cos someone traded it in and it wasnt of value to put on the lot. tf125 headlights are small and fit all the wiring in easy and are 6v too. being as common as a honda 4 wheeler on farms super cheap for parts. think i paid 30 for mine. a 3.00x18 will rub on the front fender but you can grind away the part that rubs so i would run a set of those. and like chris said on ig a cb or cg125 tank would look dope looks cool mayne looking forward to progress!
