  1. Hey welly boes.

In my hunt for a new daily there is a suitable option situated in Newtown. It is priced sharply and would like to pounce on it asap.

is anyone available to have a look, and if it’s nots a piece of shit buy for me and hold onto for a few weeks until I’m free to get down to capital city?

you will be paid for your time in your choice of beers cash or back door shenanigans.

  2. Still shopping for this supposed unicorn vehicle. Budget not as big as @Sc@ Chi but seems like the accord wagon is still the preferred option.

Wagons hold their value 10x better than everything else. Space is handy i guess. For a K24 accord wagon, the sedan equivalent, even in better spec (including Euro R) can be had 3-4k cheaper in some instances. Are sedans really that bad?

There have been a few examples that fit the bill (K24, towbar) but are usually banged up or high kms. Would you Accord barries take a punt on higher kms one to secure good options?

Basically im holding out for a good deal like the Do Bro Messiah came across.

I believe most of the racing ones have a little stand alone gearbox, which has a belt input and chain output, and then they run a go kart spec rear axle. You just have to take the reverse chain out of the box before it removes itself from the increased RPM.

We used them at the indoor go karting place i worked at, just bolted onto the output shaft of the ol briggs donk and gains were made

@a.craw4d any go kart places in dunedin ?

    I saw this listing you may be interested in: 2007 Toyota Mark-X ##ON SALE-CHEAPEST 3.5 IN NZ## https://www.trademe.co.nz/3879980161

Although this particular one doesn't quite meet budget, they come up all the time. Economy isn't terrible (ours has averaged 9L/100km over the past 6 months), I've done 7L/100km from Hanmer to Nelson as it pulls all of 1800rpm at 100km/h. 276hp 2GR ghfwii.

Lush hadn’t seen that spec, will keep an eye out. kept coming across the Zio mark x and thinking that shape is too family wagon spec

  5. Holy thread dredge Batman.
I am in the market for a new daily. Will be using it for work duties so will be doing decent miles. Criteria:

wagon. Need space for camping trips, snow missions, general hauling duties
towbar (not a deal breaker but would be ideal).
    Reasonable kms (sub 150k?)
    Reasonable economy
    Not gutless
    Reliable
    budget of 7-8k

So far option that seems to tick most boxes is a Honda accord wagon, probably not as lush as jesses above but earlier model. K24 is appealing for the economy/performance trade off but should I be considering any other options in that category? Is budget unreasonable? a few Toyota avensis and caldina that fit the above bill would appreciate any feedback anyone has on those, or others to look for

  7. Hey @GregT or other old Honda gurus, finally got xl250r buttoned back up and it’s running nicely! Bit of clatter so thinking I need to adjust cam chain.

Google has not lead me to a direct answer as it looks like some models are different, how do you correctly tension the chain? does motor need to be running ? There are two nuts, do I back one or both off etc ?
