  1. Neighbours will hate me...but got up early and got a fair bit done this morning. Sprocket swapped out for larger one. Looks simple but a fair amount of lathe work and milling was required. Engine mounts welded on. And wheel hub turned down and milled to fit, from 4 stud to 3 stud to match gokart hubs. And further mocked up for inspiration. Not done yet, but very close. Need a few cheap ebay parts to arrive to complete.
  2. Couldn't help myself, kumeu swap meet provided just about everything I needed to make another one of these...so it'd be rude not to really? Going to roll with the red and black theme. Got this all done after work today...but still a bit to figure out.
  3. Thanks, yes I have this on pdf. It's great for the old technology 2 strokes like I play around with.
  4. Just read back over this tread. Funny thing about this photo is that 3 weeks later my arm still hurt... 4 weeks later I got it x-rayed...yip - broken wrist!!!
  5. Okay, this project got put in the corner next to the kids keyboard, karaoke machine and the karate suit...(that's a joke, but close to the truth). But today the sun shined it's light on it: Then some heat resistant paint. Job pretty much done. I may wrap it...may not? I put a cheeky spray of engine start in the air filter and pulled it over...ting...ting...ting.... success! Huge compression and wild port timing should be a real screamer!!!
  6. Perfect! I'm just out of Cambridge (rural) about 5 minutes from karapiro. I'm sure we can figure it out?
  7. Just dug it out. Or you can have the ducks arse harley fender off an old sporty for free if you like that style?
  8. Hey man, looking good! I'd you want a rear fender, I've got a 1935-40 Ford rear wheel cover that I'd trade for a box of beer. Like this (but about 60% of the circle left, as I used the 40% bit on mine). https://picclick.com/1930s-40s-WHEEL-COVER-FORD-CHEVY-BUICK-Continental-303020313089.html These fenders are highly sort after and have become the go-to for old school harley dudes. I hunted for one for years, turning out very hard to find one in NZ. But i got lucky one day. This is what it looks like on a bike: The left over bit is still in original oxide red primer. It's in better condition than the bit I used...usual story, use bad bit for practice...then it turns out looking sweet...so leave it on there. Anyways if that happens to be what you're after...let me know? If you're looking for a different look...no stress.
  9. The old man is nearly 80 years old. Still tough as fuck and doing shit that half the 40 year olds have given up on. I was in his shed and noticed his ladder...hmmm????? He looked embarrassed, and said there's obviously a story that goes with it...but it can wait for another day. He asked if I could take it to the dump for him "no fucking way" was my reply! So: And problem solved. Plus it's not as far for him to fall off this time:)
  10. Awesome day...bumped into some oldschool.co.nz members, great bunch of guys, but nursing some killer hangovers from the night before. Browsed, brought, ate, got fried in the sun...brilliant day! Random thing...my phone has a step counter: Turns out we did a lot of walking at kumeu!
  11. That's what it's made to do! Success!!!
  12. Put some old sleeves on. Unfortunately they're well fucked and have worn so thin that they have started to stretch, and when they get warm the sleeves start to roll off the tyre. However it gave me a few cool rides to feel it's potential... Throttle response is so nice and progressive. The huge carb works way better than expected...fucking stoked!
  13. Cheers mate. I mostly buy my rims from pics karts in te puke. Normally for around $60-80 a set. 110c.c. axles are on ebay for about $60-80, plus about $40 postage. The price fluctuates a bit...but normally in that ball park. It's on the Australian ebay...but one account works on all the ebays regardless of country. Ideally I buy it second hand of trademe for next to nothing...I've brought mini quads for $1 some days...Or no more than $50 for a roller with no motor.
  14. It's alive!!!!! Maweahaha.....it's alive!!!!! "Goes hard for what it is bro!" And a cheeky test ride with no sleeves. The tyres grip so hard it can't be steered like this without the sleeves on. But it's fast and has some real potential.
  15. 90% done now. Just need fuel tank, wire up kill switch and buy some sleeves for the rear tyres. Oh and turn front tyre around as I've got it facing backwards and my OCD is nagging me to fix it. I did some crude panel beatin on the seat to flair out a lip. Way better! Here's some cool little touches: And the nearly finished product: Yes I did repaint all the orange bits to red. That too was fucking with my OCD...fixed now:)
  16. Trikes all assembled now. Here's the finished chain tensioner. Chains coming off is the main issue we've had with these things. It's mostly due to the really shit Chinese chain I brought. Getting quality chain in #35 pitch isn't easy to find...so kinda stuck with the Chinese shit that probably has a 7 year old making it on ex soviet machines from WW2 and a 4 year old doing the QC before it heads out the door. Anyways...hopefully this is a work around that enables it to function.
  17. Yup. Obviously a bit of a pointed piss take (aimed at one of my mates). I think it will read about double what it should? But that only adds to the fun factor.
  18. All paint work done And most assembly is now complete.
  19. A few loose ends done this morning. Seat was just sitting there until now... I welded a nut to the rear of the frame and added a short cross brace to the front of the seat. M10 bolts will hold it all in place. The all important number plate bracket is done, and a wheelie bar. Yes I added a fucking wheelie bar as this thing should pull wheelies all day long if you feed it the gas.
  20. Got some stuff done today. So I now have a proper roller! Not far to go now...
  21. Funny add. Pretty much has Bluetooth wiring, wheels, fairings...ummm....pretty much everything is held together by Bluetooth connectivity. Oh and no motor...but its reliable???
  22. Went into the shed to make a rectifier mount for a harley...didn't have any steel on hand the right size...so ended up doing this instead: Then worked on mounting disc brakes to it: I then mounted the motor and stitch welded everything together. And that's about all I could get done in this heat...time to try relax, though for an active relaxer that's easier said than done.
  23. Just needs shark mouth stickers too finish it
  24. Not sure why it's rusting under the paint. But I wouldn't use the product for anything valuable. Will stick to etch primer and 2K from now on.
