  1. Awesome looking car, Funny that basically same sort of looking as mine, though that cert plate says 3 dr, body kit, different steering wheel and front strut brace. which mine all have but lack on my plate! What are your future plans?
  2. If you look ever so closely you can see i've used my maaad paint skills and blacked out the VIN number.
  3. Today is also a good day. Plates arrived! Let's hope tomorrow at VINZ is just as successful
  4. will decide once it's apart. Might keep it in there but just replace bearings, and put the 4.3 I've just acquired in there once I turbo it. But I'll probably keep it for now
  5. Yeah there's a 4.777 in there at the moment I believe. I have just got a 4.3 coming up from CHCH now that I will be putting in there as well as rebuilding it. Last thing on the 'major fix' list! Have you checked Yahoo! Auctions? Bound to be some on there, if you get stuck give me a bell and can help you out. But thanks!! Don't look in the nooks and cranny's though......
  6. Today is a very very good day. I've got the VINZ reinspection this Friday so will get some groovey photos of it once it (hopefully) has its plates!!
  7. AE86 ecu? That ecu is as 'AE86' as your water lines. That ecu came from an AE82 big dog.
  8. I've been a busy boy, i'll have an update by the end of the week. Replacing the bushes all round (nolathane), installing GReddy's, fitting new street fins (14x7 -7)on the front, putting the old front rims on the back with appropriate tyres (225/60/14) for the cert only of course. Will be getting some Toyo T1R's shortly all around too. All going to plan should be booked in for cert next week.
  9. I have asked Auntie Google for an answer, to which she showed me: VISUAL APPEARANCE Tempered glass possesses the basic optical qualities of annealed glass. The induced stress condition sometimes produces a slight bow in tempered glass lights. Tempered glass that has been manufactured in a vertical tempering oven contains small surface depressions resembling dimples along one edge. These marks are caused by the pointed metal tongs which support the glass during its passage through the oven. Glass which is passed horizontally through an oven may contain a very slight surface wave caused by contact with the rollers. The waviness can sometimes be detected when viewing reflected images from a large distance. Finally, the air quench nozzles discharge air in a fixed, reciprocating or rotating motion. The area of air quench can be seen through polarized glass as arrays of irridescent spots or lines. Under some lighting conditions these patterns can be seen in ordinary light.
  10. Interesting, it had a bit of goobeys on it when I got it, so gave it a clean off with some thinners. It started coming out a little blacker but will try some cutting compound and see how I get on. Will still try to find a black one, though i'm intrigued to see what some cutting juice will do to it.
  11. Right, got my hands on my good camera, less my good lens..... bastard. Ah well, these will have to suffice. The plates that are on it some how appeared on there, will be sure to make sure they don't sneak back on there!! I will be getting the plate P AE86 put on it, should be here within a couple of weeks. Here we have all of the interior bits so far that I have acquired. I lastly need a gearbox surround piece. I have eyed up on on Yahoo! so should be able to pick that one up. So newly installed are -New center console lid -New Alpine head unit -Accessory surround unit, with new ash tray too. Though I will probably end up trying to find a black one -Instrument surround unit -New gear knob. Can't remember the brand. It feels so bliss to change gears! The two red wires are going to go to the fog light switch that I will have to find (Should be able to go down to the wreckers and pluck anyone from an 80 series toyota) fa And lastly I edited this image a bit, looks prettier All in all very happy with how it is looking. Going to see Mr. Cert man tomorrow and get it all booked in.
  12. Great to see the daily progression! Looking sharp. Will the body be black too?
  13. I have just gotten the car back from the panel beaters, and the team at Friend & Wistrand (Palmerston North) have done a fantastic job overall. Colour matching wasn't necessary as the car uses the original colours. You wouldn't know where the areas that they touched up so very pleased with the results. Not the greatest of photos, but here are the photos that Steven (Person in charge of my car) sent through to me, feel free to have a look I decided it would be nice to take a photo of the ol' girl on top of a hill in one of my parents paddocks, now i've lost the panda in the foliage.
  14. What cross member will you be running now? I can help you with RWD components for the engine too if needed. I've also got AE86 P/S LCA/Steering knuckles Looking forward to seeing progression with this!
  15. The brakes are on there are just standard AE86 ones though they are slotted rotors. That place definitely has some good stuff, though I found the air con cover for almost 2/3 the price brand new on Yahoo! Japan. There's some really good deals on there if you ever find any. I use http://jessestreeter.com/ for my exporting agent. He's a top dog
  16. Yes please, would love to get the AE86 on there!
  17. Kinda makes sense, I can see the logic however he could have fixed the rust in it before he filled it with 'blow up juice' haha. The time that I had the car going for with the sub in it, it sounded really good back there so maybe it works a little bit.
  18. Well she has been in the Panel Beaters for a few weeks now with some good progression. The guy doing the work reckons one more week and should be all done (they are doing this in their spare time as apposed to main priority to save me a little $$$) The chassis was straight in the front, but out in the back so needed to be straightened up. Such an awesome bit of technology how they can measure up a car, tell that it isn't straight and pull it back into shape. We had this section here which was all bubbly under the surface Which has turned into something which looks like it hasn't seen a particle of water This section here turned out to be nothing more than surface rust which was relieving. From initial inspection it looked horrible The most peculiar thing about this all was.... the entire hollow section of the hatch was filled with pink foam... WHY?!! What is the purpose of all the foam!! The panel beater spend an hour and a half picking it all out because it is extremely flammable. And finally the front right bumper mount has had a little bit of work done. Overall there is no where near as many problems in terms of rust and bent bits as I was expecting with the car. Apart from a new replacement front quarter, and a replacement rear quarter (I've got 3 cars in one, YUSSSS) it's all been pretty straight forward. Once this is done, Cert for adjusties and then on the road she is.... That's the plan anyway
  19. You aren't after a polished RWD intake manifold are you? cut/shut manifolds give me all sorts of funny feelings
