  1. That Kwik Strip card is an awesome example of a time before men had 'man buns' and safe spaces and 'womyn' were offended by men breathing.
  2. Bits went off to powder coater today. $380 to get zinc and gloss black. Abrasive concepts done a good job blasting.
  3. My old bike is still doing the rounds haha https://www.trademe.co.nz/1764163935
  4. Hey mate, im a bit late to the party with this but I just got work done on my daily by DNA auto and he is a top bloke.
  5. Spent the day messing around with my 125. Finally got it to throw a spark with new coil, points, condensder and spark plug. Chuck some fuel through and nothing. Check carb and it's dry, strip rebuild and replace and it leaks fuel from every where it possibly can! Despite this I did get it almost turning over and it chuffed a bit of smoke but I'm still annoyed. Might look at getting a new carb.
  6. Snorkpipe is right. I flicked through the book again and found another page with the spec. Seems weird like why would they have two different specs in the book I'll go with this one tho!
  7. Yea pic was just for reference. That is a crazy amount or stretch tho. I'll have another look tomorrow, it's kinda hard to measure it properly without removing...
  8. I'm a bit worried about the strength of the chain at the connection tho... would be 100x easier than pulling the cases apart!
  9. The manual says if the distance between 21 pins exceeds 128.9mm it means a replacement chain... I guess I'm splitting cases.
  10. Just out of interest how much do you think you spent on it? not inc purchase price..
  11. Stripped the frame down completely and some other bits for sandblasting. Hopefully getting it done soon. Not sure what to do about the id tags on the bike... cover or remove for blasting? Not looking forward to putting this all back together because I don't have a garage.
  12. They had some RE5 parts I wanted to buy just cos
  13. I finally strained myself and lifted the engine from the floor to the bench! Replaced the sump as the plug threads were stripped. Not too bad for such an old engine!
  14. Found a video of my old one! https://youtu.be/dtGRbndRfqw
  15. Welp I regret selling the 650 and seeing this thread has made me feel annoyed haha. Ill post a pic of how it looked when the guy who brought it finished it when I find one. I will now use this thread for my GS550M Katana instead of making a new thread. How it looked prior to tear down.. And how it looked in the for sale ad.. It cost me $200 It is now completely stripped and awaiting a frame blast and powder coat, I did want to tidy the engine up a bit but I might see if I can find another 550 engine to modify and leave the current one as is.
  16. Nah id stick with pods, just need some decent ones and a tune up
  17. Be a mix of both most likely. Looks like cheap pods, get some K&N or something decent too!
  18. Ive been doing little bits to this bike here and there but still no real interest in it haha. New indicators, tail light and tail light bracket... Chopped down the pods on the outer carbs to prevent frame rub. I just need to suss the battery and wiring situation, rebuild or replace the front brake master then go for a wof. Some pics here http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=750684503
  19. The only advice I have about putting pods on is to make sure you send the money on quality k&n ones or similar and make sure they're the right dimensions to fit in the frame. Also read up about re jetting the carbs as you may need to do that. Looks like it will be a great project tho.
  20. Quick pic of my bike again, seats off and center stand back on... its soo much easier working on a bike with center stand. I have new indicators (not l.e.d) on the way and im going to mount the number plate and tail light either on a small rear fender or straight onto the frame like in the above pics. Also im going to buy an antigravity or similar battery to tuck under seat more, plus i hate lead acid batteries. Once I have the new bits and pieces and rebuild the brake master on the front it should be sweet for wof.
  21. Well I've decided I'll keep this bike. I'll most likely leave it on tm and if someone wants to pay my price so be it but I'm just going to do bits at a time and do it properly. Id rather keep it than sell it for less than it's worth haha.
