  2. I can do somethings but electrics confuse me
  3. Does anyone know if in an ae82 the lights have a relay stock?
  4. So the dash is almost ready and we are moving onto the switch panel for low beam, high beam, indicators, hazard, fan and fuel pump. What amp ratings do i need as minimum in the Toyota to run the lights/indicators and hazards? I have found some 3amp ones which look ok but i know nothing about electrics.
  5. If the aftermarket guages Will occupy the same space and are not forward of the stearing wheel that's fine isn't it?
  6. Yeah but i need to find out a clear yes or no. cause if its a no i need to find a working dash unit. But i read the online wof requirements but could not find anything. Maybe its covered in the asseser one.
  7. Generation 1 apex RSM uses a sensor so is legal. I had just finished removing the dash cluster and about to start to replace it with the alloy panel when my cousin (who is a wof inspector) said that unless the car retains its stock cluster its not going to get a cert or a wof as it must remain stock. Read the wof requirements but could not find anything. please can someone shed some light on this for me? I think i have just wasted money on my race-looking dash instrument cluster.
  8. I have a strange question. Do you need to keep the stock gauge cluster to get a wof? Was told if i remove it and replace with autometer gauges i need a moyorsport licence? Any one can shed some light on this?
  9. I have the instruction manual for the gen 1 & 2 ones. pm me your email and i will send you the pdf
  10. I had the right parts and have lost them. Have to buy new ones, but need to go home on wednesday. Thanks guys. You have been great.
  11. Can they be made to fit.... OR Does anyone have stock silvertop ones in Auckland today or tomorrow I can pick up?
  12. Quickie answer needed please, i have "Lost" my 70mm Trumpets for my silvertop and need a urgent replacement, have a set of blacktop stock ones, will they fit? Can they be made to fit?
  13. Sorry i know i have asked this before but need some more advice. Do i need the heater/fan unit for a wof/cert ? Do i need a speedo or can i use like an apex rsm instead?
  14. When choosing a muffler I found the trd racing part and got as much information on it as possible and went to a muffler shop and went thru their catalogs to find as close as possible one to it. We got a pretty near perfect match. The guys on here know a million times more then me, they will see you right
  15. Might be out of place but don't forget your headers. They make a huge difference. Work out what style you want ( 4-2-1 or 4-1) and how long the primaries and secondaries need to be for your target rpm. I am building one for max power at 7,000rpm but will loose hp down low. I maybe wrong but i think they are more important then pipe diameter and muffler choice.
  16. The guy who will make it says he needs plans. I suck at cad. Yeah guess just make out of card and take it to him
  17. Digging up this old thread. So plan is to build a box where the silvertop airbox is and make come up inline with the bonnet and have it vented to deliver fresh air straight to the trumpets. have a drain in the bottom to remove any water and put a filter on the vent. If anyone can design something using cad or offer suggestions it would be great!
  18. I need some help please. I need to get the airbox in the fxgt sorted and built but need plans to give to someone to build. The idea is to build a box that marries up to the lower half of the stock airbox and goes up to the same level as the bonnet. The box would have a vent to let the air into it and sit free from the bonnet to move with the engine. What measurement do you need??
  19. What do you want to know? If you have vvt you need a vtec ecu, if not a non vtec one.
  20. My 2 cents: With engine swaps you can either spend time or money, so if you want to save time you spend more money, you want to save money you spend more time. When I did my engine swap I researched what parts I would need well before I actually purchased a car, and started to find the parts on trademe and other forums. My budget: 20v silver top $126 Rebuild of above with 7afe headgasket. blacktop intake cam $456 C56-LSd $81 Blacktop Loom and Auto ECU $56 Ae111 Brakes $106 Rear Sway Bar upgrade (whiteline) $16 Recaro Seats with ae82 rails $189 Bazda Coilovers $251 Extras ( various small parts needed) $328 Total parts bill $1609 Car: AE82, 406,000km blown engine no rust $458 Cert $320 Total price: $2387 Cars Value $300 max I read just about every forum post on swaping a 20v into a 82, what I would need, what works, what doesnt. Then I wrote a list of all the major parts I would need and started to source them, trademe is good, forums are good too. Won a whole bunch of auctions and if I felt it went for too much would not bid. Once all the parts are together then look for the car (if you dont already have it). You guys will probably say I was stupid but it worked for me and kept the price down a lot. Just with any car;project have a budget, a goal and then add 25% to the budget for any unplanned extras. Still am spending money on her, the half cage, front bumper and will need to paint her soon as she is a bit tired. But all this money is being spent on a $300 valuved 1984 corolla. When I sell her i would be lucky to get $500 max for her.

    PAINT THREAD

Is it possible to make the paint finish look like its been in the hot outback sun and sand for many years but have a nice sealer on it? Like a weathered look?
  22. I know someone who used trailer plugs. worked ok. not fancy as the other stuff but worked a treat for the price.
  23. By offered i mean someone is selling it for $240 and i was considering buying it. Nah turbo will cost too much and i would need a lot of help i don't have access too.
