Does anyone know what grade of leather is usually used on a Nardi or similar? Mine has gone bad and I thought I might have a crack at redoing it, since it's awful anyway.

Or, where do you buy leather in Auckland?

Just try your local Upholstery shop for a couple of small peaces of leather. Most leather companies will sell it via half hides and that will be to much for what you want.

Make sure its automotive grad and not furniture based leather. As furniture based leather has the tendency to fade and damaged a lot easier than automotive leather.

    Good luck and have fun.

  4. Really enjoy watching rob. As always people will pick what they don't like about things but I can't really say much sitting in my seat. He is doing what he wants to do and full credit to him. Even if some of it is wrong or back to front.

People get a bit carried away with what he is claiming as firsts, we know there are other 4 rotors and other 4wds and billit blocks but I could be also wrong here, add them all together at once and is there another one? (yes there is that red one with the rx3 front on it that has come out since) either way I'm sure he could critique how I do things as well.

Looking forward to seeing it really put the power down.

Here is a picture for the thread.

Know this is silly but whats the point in entering, do you need it to be able to enter into cruises etc or is it just for competitions etc?

mine is for business advertising reasons really. main street for talking and max profile of people viewing the shit i have. (eg rotary beetle)

you can cruise the main street at night when ever but say you head to a viewing spot you might find it hard getting a car park to view but if you are an entered person they always have car parks there for you.

  6. @Roman my kit for the front beam has a bunch of extra bolts in it so it can be raised 40mm to add more slamm

i would need to remove the vivid mark of steel out

    83130197_2926369447384294_26750415762536

    add more steel

and weld it all up. you can see the height difference in this image from the bolt holes to the top of the modified one and the one not modified on the other side

this is from the company who supplied the kit

That's a beefy looking kit for the suspension!

What does it do, just allow everything to be lower?

so the rear plates allow it to go lower, from factory they are straight

    $_20.JPG

the notch in my ones allow drop instantly with out having to change the spline to much.

    ADJUSTABLE_SPRING_PLATES_1968-71_EARLY_B

now it also has two plates

    Bay-Spring-Plates.jpg

the main one is the back one and the front one has the spline in it. you can adjust the height by screwing in the bolt getting it with in mm from side to side, or you can lower or raise it 20mm.

the other laser cut peace that looks like a horse shoe helps space out the dust cap allowing for the extra thickness in the spring plates

ill do a video and post this which might make things easier explaining

front front beam is now 2 inchs narrower as im going to be running drop spindles, drop spindles usually space the wheels out wider so by narrowing the front beam im able to run same offset wheels and not have them stick out more than needed. (i also like the sucked in look)

a factory beam has his bulky end on them

    image3_3.jpg

by cutting them off and putting a 10-12mm plate on the end you are able to bring the track in a bit.

most modified beams are done like this and if you run the likes of Porsche disc brakes they space them out wider again.

this is a 4 inch narrowed beam for a early kombi and you can see its much the same design as mine

picture of a bus with the wheels sucked in. this also helps with steering when the bus is super low.

    IMGP1092.jpg

side note. on beetles the wheels start to hit things and its the only way it works narrowed beams
