  1. http://www.trademe.co.nz/798237875 I know you've got your motor pretty much sorted, but came across this on trade me trawling
  2. My project updates always seem to come up together.... Just quickly for now, Ive got it all assembled and taken it for a drive to the bottom of the road. (eyecrometered toe) suspension swap has widened the front track by about 40mm. Camber is set a bit extreme right now,(5*) but will sort that when wheel aligned this week. Looks good though Next on list of purchases is bigger master cylinder -Currently 15/16. maybe booster too. And brake hoses to connect big brakes to standard lines properly. are braided lines worth it? or just drool factor for a street car? Massive thanks goes out to Sheepers for machining out and retapping the top hat nuts/spacers for me! and Nvmyvl thanks for your offer of assistance aswell. Will go into more detail about the swap soon. Cheers Guys!
  3. Also removed the ugly broken vent in the roof. Was a very slow progress trying to get minimal distortion across the roof, and flattening it out between each round of welding once it had cooled. Was super awkward having to do that with two people, but got it in solid. Roof still has a bit of a wave in it right now, but decided to call it quits for the day so we didnt annoy the neighbors all day on the fine day that Saturday was. Spent today cleaning out waterways/ under the dash to paint and seal them. WOFs due soon, and I want to drive this over summer so current plan is finish what Im doing now, and get screen back in. Fix the list of things its probably gonna fail a WOF on. and give it a scuff and lay a fresh coat of primer over it as the current one is very thin in patches. Im not going to go hunting for any more rust at present, so will avoid poking the suspect area while sanding for new primer. Painters out there, What sort of primer would you recommend to use?
  4. On opening that water way up, It turned out to be solid inside which is always good. Panelbeater decided that the lines of the unrusty parts were to good to cut up, So cut patch in half and used it to replace damaged bits. took a bit of reshaping of the patch, but the fit now is pretty much as good as factory. Is let down by average doors and guards. So thats good, no more rust in the window area!
  5. Well what did I do this weekend? spent too much time in the garage, consumed food and beverages. Quite successful even if i do say so myself. Now on topic. Went to panelbeaters to finish rust around windscreen. Cut,Fit, Clean, Paint, Weld, repeat
  6. Neal and I have the the idea that we need this done, but with less poorly executed Microsoft paint and more Richy style
  7. If your after a steering wheel, I have a factory mitsi celeste one (similar to colt) kicking around that could be all yours for say $20? It's three spoke and deep dish. Has horn pad too... Ay
  8. I KNOW. OS boes before other events hoes. Father using American car tomorrow
  9. I get so confused between this and other burger meat I go too. Everytime. American car probably won't be in attendance if I make it because of my confusedness
  10. Been eyeing that one up on trademe, I like the stripes. Very 80s. Not overly sure what I'm missing right now, need to get the screen back in so I can reassemble the dash and go from there.
  11. Bolted it all back in again. Same problem as last time, Steering doesnt reach. its about 25mm off. Put it on its wheels to get an idea again. Iphone spec camber reading. (still more adjustment both ways) Need to go talk to parts guys and check measurments for steering components tomorrow.
  12. Worst comes to worse, but neals red motor and bolt your head on. Easy as
  13. I tried asking him a price when I was gonna buy it (pre Rb swap) it was still in his car at the time but he said make an offer. And I don't like spending others money with out an idea of what they've got to spend. (He's doing ls1 VK) Only thing is if it's still around, it's up here in auckland. That being said, I've lost the hit of paper that used to be in toolbox. Will ask around for number and ring him once you give a vague $ figure tange
  14. So I keep having issues with this building up corrosion on the inside of the distributor cap and rotor periodically which causes it to miss and run poorly, but once clean and it appears to be sweet for a while. considering they're just under a year old, and its not driven heaps its weird. New cap and rotor maybe? Every time I park it somewhere and come back to it there's a puddle of coolant under it that comes out of the RH chassis rail but there's no signs of leaks from the cooling system, It holds pressure fine and is always full up to the top under the radiator cap, and reservoir level is okay so that's got me stumped also. Also I've decided that that the front suspension is not going to beat me, and I gave up to easily before. So I had a chat with the guys at SAS and found some longer rack ends that should work, so I went to Zebra today and got a pair of standard front struts to use for fitting purposes and if all works then Ill drop cash money on adjusties. Only thing is, the set of adjusties that I had for this before had a smaller shock tube diameter at the top (same as factory VK) compared to the late model standard shocks that Ive got now. Technical stuff now: Adjustable top mounts have a 18mm internal diameter Vk shocks use a m14x? thread and are 14 mm down to shock tube. (sold adjusties used a m14x? thread also and then stepped up to either 15mm or 16mm where top mount sat. I cant remember with out finding the old spacer) standard later model struts use a m16x? thread down to shock tube. So I need a nut like this that uses the m16x? thread with a 18mm external diameter for now. Gonna flick a email off to toyshop engineering once I find the thread pitch and see if he can help out. If not maybe drilling out and retapping the nut might work. If this all works, it should widen the front track by 20mm,mean I can use the VZ 2pot callipers and 296mmx28mm rotors off it and throw on a 1in master (they stop factory VZ SS commodores so should haul up a VK okay) allow me to run some silly negative camber if wanted. Also been eyeing up some adjustable radius rod arm because if doing all this may as well cert all the things, but so $$$. First things first Thomas. Get the steering attached.
  15. Actually, my old foremans father had a black 202 he pulled from a car. I'll see if I can find the number. I think it was a good runner but one valve spring was a bit weak. What sort of $$$ were you looking at spending on one? I can ring him and see if he got it /offer him money if 3ontrees option is not what you want
  16. Bit of a bummer to hear about that motor man, 202s are usually bulletproof
  17. I took the super awesome slammed springs out to make it slightly more driveable for now and put a spare set of VL wagon rear springs in the front for now (same diameter but not as thick) which bought it up a bit but lower than factory and put the 100 spokes on properly and just tonight finally put 2in blocks in the rear. It sits level now and also is 140mm off ground to lowest point of chassis. so can slam 40mm more for now. Gonna play with front springs again and remove a leaf from the rears for now and see if I can get that magic 100mm (see merican car poking its nose in?) I cant wait till I get the windscreen back in and can drive this again. I really need to buy my own welder before diving to much further into panel work..... sorry for phone pics. Have lost real camera battery charger
  18. So, its sat around for a month again and been shuffled in and out of the garage (time flies when your having fun I suppose) As I said, I found some more rust around the windscreen bare metalled the dash and around the windscreen area. etch primed it all, and painted around the screen area black. left the dash in primer as its still got to be fixed when van goes off to panel beaters again. (hopefully Labour weekend fingers crossed) I bought one of these patch panels to put in as the whole edge is gone and to make panel beaters life easier because then it will cost me less cash moneys. yay
  19. Mate, I only really have the VK otherwise. The starlet is not my problem. It's Aimee's, contrary to everyone I know saying otherwise haha That being said might turn up in american car actually....
