  1. Hi all, I'm looking for a place to live in Auckland. Not terribly fussed on location, but prefer central/East. I'm a full time photography student in Newmarket and commute there on my Yamaha V50. Am currently in Botany Downs but closer to Newmarket would be nice. I have my Austin 1300 which I don't use heaps so can be parked down the side of a house etc under a cover. Not that keen to leave it on the street. Just after a room big enough to comfortably fit my desk and bed in really. Budget of $170 p/w incl expenses. Cheers, Andrew 027 271 8433
  2. I'm also just around the corner. Do have an assignment to finish but that can wait.
  3. That piece goes on your carb, it's the vacuum advance pipe.
  4. Nah. Not convinced that's what actually happened. Looks more like it's been raced around the riverbed then beaten up for fun. Beer bottles and Monster Energy stickers all over it.
  5. Collected this thing today. Looks much worse than the pictures I was sent and I assumed it was a manual... It's not. Which also means it's single carb. Probably need a tetanus injection after touching it too. Ah well. IMG_1204 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Got it to run when we got home. Has at least 3 gears, street wasn't long enough to find 4th. Couldn't find reverse either so will give that another go tomorrow. Also has no exhaust. Since the auto block is different to mine I will most likely sell it as a running engine/gbox combo. The autos have a habit of breaking if not looked after I've heard. Little things like the wiper switch and bootlid make it worth it to me. Seats are worse than mine sadly. IMG_1200 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Finally, here's a photo the neighbor took of me showing how stoked I am with the purchase. 6. Good to catch up! Here's a few photos. More from the stuff for sale that caught my eye in the Spotted Thread. 7. The car guy for Westside Season 2 emailed me last week wanting my car the next day for a few hours to be in the background. I'm away from Auckland for another couple of weeks but he seemed keen to use it when I got back. Throw that on the list if you like? '74 Austin 1300.
  8. Makes sense! Seems to be okay at the moment. Welcome, throw up a build thread for your GT, would love to see it. Also post comments in here: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ - rather than the build thread itself. Keeps it tidier and easier to read.
  9. Looking good! I have a feeling your fan is on backwards, mine was like that when I got it and it didn't help the cooling. Look closely on the fan and it will say 'Engine Side'. When it's on right it looks like it should be the other way - but it's correct. Keep it up!
  10. I'm down for the swap meet. Look forward to seeing your guys cars again.
  11. There were a quite a few Vespas and one Honda C50 I saw (didn't look like a 50 engine though). I kept up okay with my V50. Most of the roads were 50/60km anyway. Just the odd hill I got left behind but caught up at the next set of traffic lights anyway.
  12. This was so good! Here's a few photos from me. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.483493801833289.1073741878.112269445622395&type=3 More here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.483493801833289.1073741878.112269445622395&type=3
  13. Small update. Managed to break both the front engine mount and the left one under the clutch. Sourced the front one from Basis Untitled by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Untitled by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr And the other one from Hawskwood Classics. Was thinner than the original but I just doubled up the broken plate from the old mount and it was fine. Untitled by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Soon after the accelerator kept jamming on... That would be why. Untitled by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Quick trip to Zebra and pulled one from a Triumph 2000. Much better. Untitled by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Also did a temporary repair to the front seat. Hopefully the ones from my Wolseley will be better. Untitled by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Untitled by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr The clutch also wouldn't disengage but just had to swap the clutch arm with a bent one to make it push further. A day in the life of BMC ownership. And finally a photo from a drive out to Beachlands IMG_0170-HDR by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr
  14. Maybe that's why my rear left door has been resprayed a different shade of white at some point...
  15. Haha. Anyway, here's a link to mine: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35013-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ Shows you what not to do
  16. My condolences on your purchase Just kidding, welcome! How's the motor?
  17. Just registered, looks like it'll be great! Hopefully my V50 can keep up. Now off to the op shop to find a suit...
  18. I did that too, they just asked for a gold coin in their charity box then gave me as many as I wanted.
  19. Unlikely I'll be there. The almighty power of the A-Series engine broke two of it's engine mounts.
  20. IMG_8854 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Testing it's off road capabilities.
