  1. Finally got my head around some more advanced (slightly) tuning stuff, Reflashed an enhanced Bin into the ecu tonight, effectively a firmware update to allow a bit more freedom with tuning. It also has some tweaks. I inspected it in Tunerpro before loading has spark maps for 98 octane more line pressure in transmission and a bit leaner fuel which im all about! Quick test drive and gotta say it seems a bit more refined and awake trans behaves a bit more civilized when cruising, but is nice and snappy when giving it berrys not like a shift kit but just generally nicer. Will run it to work for few days and see if anything unusual happens. Got the stock ecu in boot now and the laptop should it go tits up. No pushing it too hard till its had a service shes done 300,000+ k's now. Hopefully it's even better on gas doing 9.3l/100 at moment which isn't bad its better than my vw golf could manage.
  2. When i do dinky brass terminals i crimp them then solder them followed up with light heat shrink to give them best chance of not cracking from vibration. Mind you everything i touch is pretty ropey and vibrates like crazy.
  3. I'd love to see e85 or methanol through a big carby to see what the cooling effects are like on a n/a. A 1 3/4" or 2" SU bolts up to a stock 4age manifold if anyone wanted that gem of useless information.
  4. Shit I'd forgotten about but rate are fitting extra heavy duty sway bar links (HSV) they aren't expensive but really crisp up stock suspension if you enjoy carving up corners a bit. No rubber just big nuggety ball joints. Will think about some new bushes this year if the warrant man says any are buggered.
  5. Bedding in procedure done as per installation instructions can tentatively say i think these are better than the brembos i had on the calais previously. Slipped a cheeky 3mm spacer in as the whiskers on the tyres make a slight fizzing sound on the struts when im giving it beans into corners I'll pull them out once those wear off. Electrical bullshit still gone, thank fuck for that I'd forgotten how nice it is not having to warm it up before going anywhere.
  6. New stuff plus Porsche orange painted calipers look bloody sweet. I actually painted white first to really make it pop!
  7. @vk327 Yep it fired up perfectly with the AC on as soon as it was fitted up. For some reason the air conditioning completely fucked with it previously youd hear the pump click in then the engine would instantly die. So far so good. Lesson learned even in a pinch dont fuck around with non genuine sensors. I should know better as i used to be NZ's agent for Delphi gear its top notch.
  8. This morning i fitted the new genuine crank angle sensor, coincidentally it was $30 cheaper then the non genuine one i had fitted months ago. I've actually taken a step by step on how to fit one should anyone find that interesting let me know I'll write it up. Anyway the 4 month old sensor, you see its starting to come apart and visibly the channel the trigger wheels run through had deformed (P.O.S)
  9. Finally arrived about a week later than i wanted. Look really bloody nice anodized finish looks mint!
  10. This thing developed a terrible squeak which i was convinced was the swansong of the little Robin engine..... Turns out it was just a cracked chassis my son beats the shit out of this over a very bumpy section. So ground the paint off and he welded it up, and chucked on some pvc sleeves found an empty car park and he kept at it till the tyres busted through. Good fun this engine will not die!
  11. Ive got some 1/2 used drift trike sleeves throw those on no speed but plenty of fun for a learner. She can pretend shes at summernats.
  12. @vk327 would it be possible to shove a vx-vy Ecu in so he can just flash stuff in direct without having to crack open the waterproof housing?
  13. Some of these on way too, not brembos but 200 bucks less is worth a try and are actually a reputable Australian manufacturer. Anodised too.

I got 7 litres of the stuff for $12, ive got 6 different guns ive accumulated over the years including a Kremlin air assisted one so am quite keen to do some steel furniture with that and Hammerite.
  15. Revision 2 Fuel tank mount, i had this zip tied in for ages and seeing as the mig was out took 10 minutes to do it properly. Now to zap in some cable management and re run the -4 fuel line so it has a straight run down right side of frame, currently loops around frame as i was scared to cut it too short.
  16. Revisions! The kickstand on this was a freebie from Kimjon thats served me well but was really undersized, at night ive heard it creak as it struggled to hold the engine up. I whipped this up from one i chopped off Truenotch's mini chopper frame i butchered its solid as fuck! And the scooter doesn't roll down hill when idling on hills (like my driveway)
  17. Did some more digging in tunerpro to trace this cold start problem where it starts mint for 30 seconds then settles to a horrific missing coughing barely running idle. When it starts the engine speed is perfect 750rpm then the engine speed graph jumps around like crazy 100-3500rpm (it actually stays at 600rpm while doing this) Now rolling back 3-4 months the crank angle sensor died and i replaced it with the only new one i could find at an hours notice, it wasnt genuine nor cheap but my car has to get me to work 1100ks a week so in it went and it ran ok for about 2 weeks, then the ignition module died i fitted a genuine one that lasted 3 days... I had a gutsfull of throwing new parts at it and threw a second hand ignition pack off a VR at it which has been sweet with the cold start issue been the only fault remaining. Tl/dr if you own an ecotec and the idle is slightly trembling replace your crank angle and cam sync sensor now with genuine parts to prevent breaking down and buggering your other electronics. I have all the tools now pm me as they'll just gather dust otherwise happy to loan out to OS'ers. Oh and @vk327 has been a legend helping me out with this it would be a burnt out wreck on lawn without his advice.

Anyone played with Hammerite paint ive found i can buy it ridiculously cheap through work so grabbed a sexy green colour and some gunmetal grey to experiment with. Any tips to getting it to behave correctly? Wouldn't mind making it a bit more interesting with some aliexpress pearl perhaps. This will go on my scooter and quad and perhaps some engine stuff on my daily if it works ok. So just wanting to avoid it going to shit and can i clear coat it to make it glossy
  19. No fume oven cleaner works well doesn't fuck paint removes brake dust piece of piss. Dont use on bare alloy though it dulls it.
