  1. The yanks do try to make heavy things fast which probably doesn't help the poor old 4L60e's reputation, the fact they take more than one massive hit from a turbo LS blows my mind.
  2. Box of neutrals? Haha I'd like 400hp (budget probably gets thin after that) and i wont be racing it every weekend so hoping extra line pressure good fluid and 3.9 ratio in diff will help situation. 4l60e's theyre cheap enough and easy to change so will see how it goes.

Hosed the boys KXD (Chinese KTM) with some of my homemade chameleon paint looks awesome and covered really well over black 2 light coat and satin clear i had laying around. Hes pretty stoked.
  4. Ive never gone any further into an auto transmission than a filter change im now wanting to take my daily driver a fair bit further power wise so the trans will need some help to live, educate me..... Transmission is a 4L60E it will be going behind a Holden L67 with decent helping of boost in my commodore im using the ecotec transmission as its in there and in good nick. Im looking at a stage 2 kit im happy with a firm shift and may think about a 2500rpm hi-stall converter at same time, Any tips and tricks when digging in to the valve body or other things i should consider to save myself headaches?
  5. Have found a usable map for the vy ecu, Its a tune people use with a top end swap where a l67 top end is fitted to an ecotec so will be a good starting point. You sacrifice control of the supercharger bypass valve which still works as intended the ecu just cant open it under certain events which appears would be limp mode anyway. Will need an uprated fuel pump as the l67 is dual speed with more flow so will just throw a decent aftermarket pump in and run single speec to keep everything simple.
  6. @vk327 will have a good look at the pcm and looms when i get them side my side probably going to pick up another ecotec to raid parts from so i can keep the car mobile. Pcmhacking.net has a few builds with l67's on vy PCM'S so will message those people and see how they addressed the above issues. If its to shit I'll consider a Haltec or something. Long game plan is to get a turbo on this too.
  7. Will look to sling this in car in near future. If i can do some overtime be great to get an intercooler plate on it before it goes in hole if not will add some water/alcohol injection. My previous commy would absolutely rip shit down the 1/4 for the first 200m then heat soak would hit and probably 200c inlet air Temps. Im tempted to try a carburetor with alcohol inline after the airflow meter to chill the supercharger itself surely that would also help it live longer even as an interim measure.
  8. Ive regretted selling my supercharged VX for ages now....... only one thing for it! This time with my knowledge of tuning the factory fitted gear so will swap my VY PCM over to this allowing on the fly tuning over USB.
  9. There is also a difference in field servicable and crimped fitting type AN hose. The crimp type hose will assemble fine with the screw together fittings but will pop off or leak well under rated pressure. Thats with speedflow stuff.
  10. New recorded top speed, was humming along perfectly then the new drive belt exploded so now on my 4th belt. Theres more in it i suspect after it maxes out the torque converters overdrive and engine winds out the belt slips cooks itself and unraveled.
  11. Thinking about making the top of frame open around engine as the vtwin once all polished up will be a real feature. Plan in my head is to brace the front an rear of frame to engine mounts so the engine becomes a semi stressed part of the structure, will replace the bottom tubes with something meaty like 25mm box section as that'll help with getting everything flat for mounting. Decided to shove engine forward too for minimum wheelies max wheel spin. Got eye out for a set of extra wide go kart rear wheels. Have found a blank 520 sprocket too which sorts the rear axle, big chain im used to 420 pitch which i chew through with monotonous regularity on my other projects.
  12. Give a toothbrush a go with some more alcohol. Failing that try some cutting (for paint) compound with the toothbrush if it doesn't get it off it'll be really clean.
  13. Needed some motorvation to get this going though haven't had a great deal of luck finding a wiring loom diagram that matches up to the colours on this loom, off by miles! Brain fart occurs today just hotwire the CDI and jumper lead direct to the starter. 2-3 attempts and it runs well no exhaust or airbox so the carb isn't 100% on point but it runs on 2 and revs quite well. First run ever for this engine. Whoop motivation! Time to order more parts now i have an engine that will move something.

True, yeah my mix is just a clear base nothing else apart from the 30g of pigment. What colour would you recommend under as a base over the primer Black? silver? Its going on a bike frame so ill just keep hosing it on till its even, wanting depth so was going to go dark base with 2-3 clear coats. Sound right?

Yeah some shit i bought ages ago when i was doing custom painted furniture its an automotive product. I used to do crazy pearl coffee tables and stuff seemed to work well getting particles onto objects. Probably doing it wrong but its cheap enough to learn with again (been 20 years since ive painted anything other than buildings) Im actually a trade qualified vehicle restorer......

Playing around with aliexpress pigment $1 a gram to my door for chameleon Always wanted it as a teenager going to hose my scooter with it with a black base. Not as trendy these days but should look sweet. 1 litre owes me about $50.
  18. Not much to report but am happy with how it looks (placement of things) runs and rides, so will blow it apart soon and paint it one colour. Heres the colour i homebrewed 30g of blue/purple/green chameleon pigment in a litre of lacquer. Pops like fuck in sun!
  19. You can get isopropyl alcohol fairly easily might be a good option has good evaporation qualities which is what gives the cooling effect.
  20. Holy shit bolt a barra in and do 4wd donuts! The cab is quite funky would make a cool ute if you shortened the chassis several meters.
  21. Sweet, front guard mounted via the easiest brackets ever only stupid if they dont work right? Solid as fuck too. No more rocks in the throat which surprisingly was a real problem before. Also fitted an aliexpress dual led headlight can report its really fucking bright and ive been out in dark clocking up k's.
  22. All good as is 5a protects wiring 2a protects your device. Bang it in.
  23. My dad all 66 years old of him had his first ride on it this weekend..... from home he headed 3 ks up road to a strip of road thats 3 ks long and dead straight from 3ks away we could hear him going flat out then turn around and do it the other way. He hopped of absolutely beaming it really made his day.
  24. Found this front mudguard on side of motorway haha its a good fit in forks and over the wheel but theres not a whole lot to mount it too. Best thing i can come up with is to bolt some flat bar to the guard mounts and hose clamp to the forks..... more i think about the better it gets as easy and will have some give should it suck up a rock. Will need a guard over back wheel now too as ive got burnt rubber all up the back of my leather jacket and helmet. When engine was further back the back of engine caught it all.
  25. Took this for a really good ride around 25-30 minutes think my stash of E85 has gone stale though as it goes like stink off line and falls on its face around 4000rpm like its fuel starving. Plugs tell a different story as theyre perfect. Will get drain tank and try some fresh 98 and wind the jet in (SU LIFE!) the carb has enough adjustment to swing through anything i throw in it. Small win my mrs who is staunchly anti motorcycle has had a zip around our very quiet subdivision and can absolutely see what all the fuss is about now. And is now ok with my idea of getting a bike to commute to work on (only taken 5 years)
