  1. That's what happens with friends.. Specially when your lifes full of shit.
  2. Been a while, last time I drove this was during lockdown last year. I start it every now and then otherwise the clutch sticks on. The clutch has been the bane of my life since I bought this car, now it'll lose its fluid in about 2 months so I bit the bullet and had the clutch master/slave resleeved and new seals at Canterbury Brake and clutch (their quote was literally half the price of safe r brakes which was $2-250 per item. Would defo recommend. Last year I was at @RUNAMUCK's place for a meat and was commenting on the nice custom radiator in his datto. That led to this Custom mk3 zephyr radiator for a fucken good price, doesn't fit quite like the original but nothing a couple of spacers won't fix. Just need to clean the system out before I mount it. What I thought was bad rust at the bottom of the pass a pillar turned out to be just some light surface rust from when the front screen leaked, treated that. That leaves just one thing and I can get it another wof ready for the drive up to golden bay. If anyone has a good hook up on exhaust fab that would be great (I have zero time, and I'm out of mig gas)
  3. I've got one of those black and decker drills. Was dad's also. Goes real good.
  4. Yeah, constant work on it now to try and get it finished. I've put ply directly behind the bottles and to the sides slightly further than the base boards go (about 100mm)then it's just the mac.. Ply is hard down onto the concrete.
  5. If you don't mind me asking, what we're the cost overruns?
  6. One thing you can generally rely on when it comes to money, it'll never be cheaper than it is now to do it.. Even if it does blow out somewhat.
  7. Cheers bro, still got a bit to go before I'm finished but I've essentially broken the back of it now, "should" be a fairly easy run to the end (we all know how that means nothing and I've pretty much just jinxed myself)
  8. I had a similar experience when I did my place, had a budget of 340k at 20% deposit. I was told that I'd piss it in for 300 and have enough for a garage. By the time the house was on the section with me doing all the ground works etc, costs were already at 270k.. no found no nothing. There were a few factors involved, one of them being naivety on both my part and the scheme provider, another was cera (cunts), geotechs, asbestos etc etc.. all in all pushed the budget out to 360k this included getting the house for free (20k) and the architect waving his bill (good cunt). I don't "blame" Garry who provided us with the means to go down this route, but a bit more research would have thrown up these potential issues. Ultimately we got what we wanted and the potential for it to pay off in the near future is higher than if we had just bought an existing dwelling. I'd do it again, but with the obvious benefit of experience.
  9. Bit of a comparison 2016 2017 a month before we shifted in. 2021 Been a fucken mission....
  10. Then this weekend managed to get the front on and oiled before it rained this arvo. Wedges, I fucked around a bit yesterday morning and didn't start till lunch which was stupid, as I ended up having to epoxy and screw this bit in the dark having to wave my arms at the sensor every few minutes to get the lights to stay on so was in a rush. Mrs oiling before rain this morning, In my haste last night to get it on I forgot to take a screw out the was holding the board on so it didn't slide off, when I finally fixed the the batten screw I hit the smaller screw pushing it sideways and blowing the side of the mac off, was pretty pissed at myself, easy fix in the cold light of day with the kids pva hah. Had to redrill the pilot hole for the fixing so it don't try that trick again. So now I just have to finish under the back steps and the bottom of the house is all done.. Finally.
  11. Back finished, You can see the sewer breather is cut, bought some more pipe so I didn't have h to cut around it with the capping. Still have to make a gate for the bottles and surround for the califont.
  12. Had to start with the sides then get the two ends on, Then get my lackie to oil it..
  13. Drilled and dowelled the butt joins, I over sized the dowel holes a, to make it easier to align everything once the caps are on and b, so there's some epoxy all around the dowels to make the whole joint stronger. Mac likes to move around a bit. Epoxied, I was gonna use some stainless spax fixings and heat the end to discolour them, but fuck, the stain will colour them anyway so just used standard landscape fixings Got them pretty straight, not to bothered as they're supposed to look rough ish.
  14. Capped the rear section of the base boards last weekend, Half of the mac boards banana'd by about 10-15, thankfully they didn't twist but I had to cut most of them straight. Thank fuck for table saws, Also spent a bit of time getting the compound miter right. Put a string up and cut some wedges as Packers for the cappings, Glued and bradded them in place.
  15. Was just having a browse about case ventilation and found this, is pretty informative https://shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=118958
  16. Yeah, cost me about 1k to have the case machined, and then I started thinking "well, while I'm there" etc etc.
  17. Like this, rear main journal, about a 90km engine.
  18. In my experience, any extra pressure in the crankcase causes a myriad of oil leaks. As for the rear main, if its a fairly high kilometre engine then the bearings, especially at the back, will be slogged and letting oil out the seal.
  19. It's a bit of a running joke.. Are the 250's iron head or alloy?
  20. My 351c a an 850 edelbrock on it when I got it, mild 226/236 cam.. all literature said it's too big but it went good.. ( 180km out of a 65 liter tank wasn't so good) ended up putting a 650 mighty demon on it as the 850 ran out of puff at about 6k.. (?)
  21. Did you have your foot flat?... Full noise..
