  1. Ah, pick a part Wingate. Spent countless hours there once upon a time. Geez, have not seen a V3000 in years. I remember the MOT used to have black and white patrol cars in wellington when they were new. I also remember there was a car getting around with the number plate MOTSUX. This was just before they merged with the police.
  2. Maybe some Air shocks in rear if lipped guards no fix. Burnout looked good,so bogan as well I approve, please continue.
  3. In that case, i still got the stock springs if you want me to go measure diameters. Is it easy enough to fit S13 stuff to these i wonder? Can go coilover then. Flash. Edit : just read back in your thread and saw z31 stuff fits, which is actually similar to S12 stuff i think. I have some shortened kyb gtx adjustable inserts if your interested in measurements, they fit S12 and Z31 struts (and ae86) Im actually going BC racing coilover so have no need for the kyb's
  4. Those front spings look suspiciously like they might be the same style as the springs in my S12 Gazelle. I actually checked the part number on the lovells aftermarket springs when i lowered it and found they were the exact same as a smelly old commodore... go figue but might be worth looking into Anyway nice progress!
  5. So whats the story with a repair cert for a revin? Do these cost lots of money and such? I used to have my wof licence many years ago before moving over here and i dont remember any thing about repair certs then so curious to knkw what the go is
  6. Nice! Im guessing its a leone in the background? ive owned a few and those mudflaps look very familiar
  7. I am having a spot of bother with the S12 intake manifold. DR30 stuff not working out very well, fuel rail and pressure reg dont fit etc. Just bought the intake manifold below to cure this problem (and create a whole bunch of others I know) Considering buying some brand new Carbs for maximum Dort. Also considering keeping the efi and getting some ITB's but apparently they can be a massive hassle to set up. Thoughts?
  8. You sure the original wiper motor is totally fried? Its pretty unusual for electric motors to completely die but i guess your car is pretty old. Ive had good success pulling motors apart and cleaning them, normally the armature gets clogged up in the gaps with carbon where the brushes make contact. Clean the copper up with really fine wet dry 1200 grit and get all the gunk out of the gaps with brake clean. Might be worth a shot before trying to make a S13 one fit (and that looks way off to be honest)
  9. Cheers. FJ Conversion taking longer than it was supposed to but such is life
  10. Cheers, will have a look for some to replace my horrible rubber bootless leads
  11. I love old starlets, this one looks so good in green. I would really like a factory orange one myself though for some weird reason. What engine you using again? 4AGE i presume?
  12. Ha! I saw one for sale awhile back. 18,000 euros...
  13. Did you know we fitted a reg to the gasser ages ago? I think spencer hooked us up a sweet deal on one. Runs a hell of a lot better now! Lolz
  14. Just made the fatal mistake of counting up in my head what this thing owes me so far... (I know, I know - but these things just happen!) Anyway, its full steam ahead now. I need to get this back on the road asap and start living the daily FJ20 dream...
  15. Oh yeah, check this out. SR20 clutch fan fits perfectly onto the FJ water pump and lots of clearance behind the CA20 radiator. Im keen to use as many Nissan / Datsun parts that I have lying about in the shed. ha-ha
  16. You can see the DR30 inlet is quite a bit too big here in the first pic : I managed to find a S12 inlet manifold though for a really good price, pretty stoked as these are pretty hard to come by. This gives me heaps more room, like the way Nissan intended it! I am just in the process of assembling the new manifold as we speak. I have test fitted it though and it looks heaps better already, plus the bonnet closes without having to modify anything or get a super rare RS-X style bonnet bulge. Once the engine is up and running I plan on painting the cam cover the proper wrinkle dark red colour and a few other little bits and pieces obviously!
  17. Onto the more exciting stuff. Got the AC mounted and the power steer pump etc. Pretty much dummied up the whole lot and dropped it in one go. I had a few problems with the DR30 inlet manifold taking up a lot of room in the S12 engine bay. People said they fit ok - they dont... So I had to remove it and re think the situation.
  18. Here's the 280ZX close ratio gearbox, its got the FJ bell housing on the front. Pretty cool how all this stuff is so interchangeable! I gave it a quick once over and had a look inside. Seems all ok, no chipped syncros etc and should be good to go.
  19. So I have been pretty busy doing work on this as much as possible! Knocked up a set of mounts to fit the FJ20 into the CA20 cross member, as they dont actually bolt up like people say they do. The cross members are definitely different, although only very slightly but enough to cause headaches when trying to fit the engine properly and level / square. These mounts sit the FJ sump level with the CA20 cross member but still allow me to just close the original bonnet without having to use an RS-X Bonnet bulge. Pretty happy it clears, will show later how close everything is and I had to do a few things a bit different as you will see. Cleaned the engine bay up, came out quite good actually under all the 30 years worth of grubbyness. I got the steering rack rebuilt as it was leaking a bit around the seals. An ideal time to do so while I am in there - no pesky engine in the way!
  20. So, im in the market for a set of FJ20 ignition leads as well. Were these from yahoo by chance?
  21. I got one of those ebay el cheapo digital degree finders. Works sweet
  22. Ive got pinion wedges in between the diff and leave to fix that problem. Think its 6 degrees from memory. I am using a bigger diameter tailshaft though when i did the V8 conversion. I better fix the tunnel soon. It kinda defeats the point of having a ute that cant carry much weight lol. Having said that the air shocks pumped up fully do help
  23. Can totally relate to watching for holes and bumps. Tailshaft in my XM ute hits the tunnel if im carrying anything in the tray...
  24. Im back over here visiting family and saw you heading towards me in the upper hutt today. The wagon looked good all loaded up with roof racks!
  25. How did you go? They even have a look at it today?
