  1. Might be some kind of truck, is it a bigger chunker spline? a good clutch place can match you up something from your old plate.
  2. They will have more layers of fabric and a taller side wall
  3. lol I know another ford guy who put a Ford motor in a 40s Buick
  4. I liked that old Holden motor
  5. Is there a place that sells vintage tires in Auckland? I need something like 6.40 15” for my T. I got some sweet Destone 700-15” light truck tires for the rear, it’s very hard to find something that doesn’t look like shit.
  6. There is a mint speed way museum in Auckland, it’s a gold coin donation, he has a cople big sheds full of cars and stuff. I use to live just up the road.
  7. Lower centre of gravity and you don’t have the exhaust ports snaking thrugh the cooling system, guys in NZ would put wetsuits on under the racing overalls as after a race they would blow a hose off sometimes and the wetsuit stoped them getting scalded.
  8. easy, dry sump, and oil pick up is under where the intake manifold use to cover. The only question is how they attached the stainless steel sides to the tin side V860
  9. Some people used the Ford or Simca V8 and flipped them upside down and made them run backwards and used the intake ports as exhaust and exhaust as intake, the V8 60 is also the worlds smallest v8, works out about 2.2 L
  10. There is some racing class where they run half a SBC
  11. I got another pick up from a rooted 21 stud engine I had, these old engines are coated in carbon all over on the inside like the inside of an exhaust but it’s stuck on like 2k paint and the smell is terrible, going to make an engine stand witch supports the engine from the exhaust port bolts as it’s very bad to hang the whole engine from the little bell housing bolts on such a thin casting.
  12. Broke the pick up tube but but I have some that didn’t have the tube from factory so will use one of them, friend pressed the new bushes in and gear on to the end of the oil pump shaft for me, and I sent the engine to someone he knows who can do everything from boreing the cylinders and grinding the crank and balance witch is good.
  13. It’s been hot tanked and passed a visual inspection, but it’s going to be magnafluxed and pressure tested, I hope like hell its ok, I have other engines but they won’t take the piston bearing combination I have
  14. I am at the point of no return with rebuilding an engine, I need to come up with another 5k I think for the work. I did buy what I was told was a rebuilt engine that is in the car now but it’s been done wrong and fumes and tapps, oil pressure not great. It’s actually more economical I think to go down the rebuild road, then I know what I have got.
  15. Just got the clutch and pressure plate + flywheel back, over $700 bill, ouch.
  16. Well engine is at the builders now and it’s going to cost more than I had budgeted for, it’s going to be a $12k kinda engine
  17. I would like a speedo, this thing can actually exceed the speed limit. if all goes to plan tomorrow I will drop the engine off to the builders.
  18. I reckon that looks better, probably horribly inaccurate and the small light bulb in the back hardly lights it up
  19. I have been turning down 2" ford valves and shortening the the stem and re cutting the keeper groves for a long time for motorcycles, never had any trobble, they are not hard.
  20. The VDO speedo has a 18mm BSP or something thread, I soldered a blumbing fitting onto my adaptor and lengthened it a bit by brazing the end up, also brazed on a tube for the light bulb, I think I need one of those step up gearbox things for the speedo witch won’t work with this adapter, why is everything so fucking difficult?? Non of the speedos o want to use have normal fittings.
  21. I finished off the speedometer cable adapter this evening and it worked out really well but I put a metric thread on it so now its junk
  22. When I got my Volvo some arsehole had cracked one all the way in cross threaded, it was hard going to get it out, I had to seat the gasket of the new plug in another plug hole and wrap it in tinfoil, held for a few years then came loose.
  23. My grandmother was showing me a silver fob watch that belonged to her dad, the glass was missing and the minute hand stabbed very deep into my finger, it was like a razor,
  24. There are some HQ parts in the bush at the beginning of my road, there is a dash board and a broken grill and seats I think.
  25. The VDO is shit in design and construction, but the smiths ones are ok, the old motorcycle one comes apart without having to attack it with a hammer, I gave it a lube a cople of years ago
