Goat Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 If it stalls off the line, it could be the accelerator pump? I think some of the yank carbs have a piston as opposed to a diaphragm? maybe this is chooched. So it just falls over when opening the throttle? Quote
cletus Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Yeah probably just needs a bit of love. Carbs are simple things, and are fine if you are prepared to adjust your expectations slightly Those bolt on efi units are not much better than a carb IMO Every one I've driven has run like a bag of dicks 2 Quote
Valiant Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 I predict that the accelerator pump linkage is adjusted incorrectly. Does it have a Holley carb? Quote
rusty260z Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 thanks for replies, Will hold off on the efi box, and find someone to have a look at the carb and sort it out, any suggestion around East Tamaki area? have uploaded engine and carb pic on project page, assuming i take off air cleaner and look for some sort of model/serial number on carb? cletus Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Carl at C+M performance in east tamaki would be able to sort it out, hes not cheap but he knows what he's doing. Quote
Thousand Dollar Supercar Posted November 5, 2025 Posted November 5, 2025 This car needs some sort of Pink Panther sticker on it somewhere. Personally I'd change the wheels, not necessarily to anything stock, just not wire wheels or anything black. IIRC our Jags share a GM stud pattern so there are various bogan options available second hand. I had my Jag's centre mufflers removed and replaced with pipe, to make the exhaust louder without changing the rear tips. Does it sound great? No, but it was cheap. 4 Quote
