yetchh
Hi, got a question. I have a facelift model surf (98) and the gauge is doing some funny shit. Will most of the time only reads properly is when you shut the ignition off then back on again, sometimes it will also just read full. It doesn't seem to like adjustments at the sender as if you accelerate the needle will drop to zero and the fuel light will flash. I've had the sender out and it seems to read ok 13-180ish ohms but again if I manually move it the gauge drops to zero. Have also changed the gauge for another with no change.. I might add that I had a minor dash fire 2 years ago to do with the 4wd light but they put in a whole other loom and dash.. any sparkies out there with an idea? Cheers,Thomas. chris r
Loose connection/poor earth's somewhere? Try checking continuity from sender to dash and make sure the wires are allgood

Mof
Did you test the sender in the same orientation/position as it would be in the tank?

chris r
Check from sender straight to gauge)(key off) amd if it's OK all is well. If not then start tracing wires
