nickrock
Are there any marks on pinion shaft ( or elsewhere) to identify the ratio and if its LSD long way to travel to find its the wrong diff
danger
Not that I'm aware of but should be able to tell off build plate or what its out of.. Is it a salisbury (rear loader- has a cover on the back of the diff housing or a banjo (front loader, crown and pinion etc detach out the front of the diff)
nickrock
I know its a Salisbury but with out whipping the plate off and counting the teeth I don't know what I'm getting
danger
What is it out of? does it have the top arm mounts drilled out (sedan) or not(ute)

danger
If its a ute its probably 3.
AllTorque
Salisbury diffs have the ratio stamped on the crown wheel. Just need to flick the back cover off and have a look see.
AllTorque
Or read this => //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/19944-how-to-tell-your-diff-ratio-without-taking-diff-apart/
nickrock
Ok cause he's saying its about 3.
nickrock
I know how to find the ratio by turning it but mate will pick it up in his van on his way through late one night and I thought it might have a ratio stamped on it like most trucks do
danger
If its about 3.0 its probably 3.08 or he's a moron. 3.08 is good ratio in a salisbury, Think I sold my last ring and pinion in 3.08 for $
Threeonthetree
Ok cause he's saying its about 3.0 No such thing as a 3.0:1 ratio in those. 3.08:1 or 2.78 are the closest. A 3.08:1 ratio is getting harder to come by nowadays as they were always one of the first ratio choices for putting behind a warmed up HQ-WB. Are there any marks on pinion shaft ( or elsewhere) to identify the ratio and if its LSD long way to travel to find its the wrong diff He needs to remove the rear plate in order to find the ratio, as has been said it's stamped on the crownwheel. It may have an LSD tin tag affixed to the filler plug denoting an LSD differential but these are easily removed and swapped so it is not worth trusting.
