MTM
Hey guys, I was wondering. I have a 1300 in my Escort, not exactly sure which one but I want to get a bolt on carby for it. What model would you assume I'll need and is there a rough idea on price inclusive of all the parts. Am I right in saying I will only need a single pump? I want to look into a 1600 engine but I don't have the funds for one at this stage, but I figured a little carby will gvie the beast a little more grunt and give it a better sound. It has extractors on it now but nothing fancy. If anyone has one for sale, please PM me I would be interested! Are they difficult to install? Any further information for a novice would be appreciated. Thanks!
punkoutnz
What carb does it have at the moment? The single barrel ford carb or a weber? The cheapest option (also the one I took for my 1300) was to bolt on a 32dgv weber which was factory fitted to the 1300GT engines (because the manifolds are easy to get for the weber carbs) and tune that. You can also go for the 32/36 which is the more commonly available carb but I'm not sure what jets you need for that one, while as the 32dgv for mine didn't need any jet adjustments.

Rookie
I have a weber manifold that you could purchase for a box.
mk2marty
If all else fails talk to Murray at Weber Specialties. He's a GC and knows what he's talking about. In fact he could probably sell you a carb to go with Rookie's manifold.
BlownCorona
if youre going to upgrade the engine to a 1600, i would strongly recomend you take that money youve earmarked for a new carby for the 1300. stick it in the bank, and kickstart the savings for the new engine. why pay good money to make an engine go slightly better for a while, instead of getting the new engine in sooner and dorting around like a Sport
