BLIZZO
Build thread here = //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/40379-1971-triumph-herald-1360/ Good to see another triumph being saved, but geeze it looks like dirty mike and they boys had a soup kitchen in there. Where did you rescue that from/ have you already pulled the engine or did it not come with one?. Will be interesting to see the condition of the body work once you strip it that one on the widened steels looks pretty sweet, reminds me of the old anglia race cars etc on wide rims, cant say ive seen a herald look so good
DXROLLA
Cheers, i got it off trade me, guy out Darfield way has a paddock full of escorts, morris, ect ect and he is getting rid of some http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=1989790 Always loved the look of them, a few months back i seen one that looked very similar to the one with the widened steels in Hanmer and after that i had to have one Came with two engines, picking them up this weekend as i couldn't lift them by myself and a spare box, both 1300cc. From what i can see body seems ok, but as you know you really cant tell until it is stripped back, i just need to free up some garage space asap. al_feinted
Looks like some work. I didnt realise there was more than one herald front aside from the vitesse twin headlight type. That sample/inspiration pic is sweet looking, do that.
DXROLLA
Yeah its going to be some work, i think finding the parts i need is going to be the hardest, there seems to be a few sites over in the UK that still stock a few bits. Trying to tack down one that some one is wrecking would be handy but i think the odds of that are slim here in NZ. Yeah thats the plan, basically i want it to look like that, probably keep the 1300 or maybe get a 1500 spitfire engine if i can find one, couple of webber side suckers, race cam and strait pipe should do the trick
DXROLLA
So ive been having a think about how i want to do this project, i could either do the standard engine up big cam side drafts ect orrrr A ROTA Ive always wanted one and it would be different, yes il have to buy some new baggy t-shirts and flat peak hats but i thought thats a small price to pay for all the biarches i will pull But seriously what do you think of a rota conversion for the old herald? Yay or Nay?
Raizer
Could be interesting, would swap out the rear suspension set up for something a bit better though! But I would do that even if sticking with a Triumph engine lol Maybe a rear send from an MX5 or something?
Beaver
Id keep it original engine, just tickle it up. It will never be a proper well handling car unless you swap out the rear end setup for something. Would not be a fun car with too much power under the right foot!! durty
Imagine how fun this would be at 9000rpm

BLIZZO
original IMHO, widened steelies, tickle the 1500 with a nice grumpy cam and like you say sidedrafts with a sweet exhaust system and headers. Will sound cool but period cool with sweet induction noise
