DB8-TypeR
How many long flashes and how many short? 7 Short flashes will be Throttle Position sensor I think
drtydog
yes 7 short flashes sweet i will look into that this weekend ive also discovered the radiator fan is not working so i will have a look at that this weekend also
drtydog
so i replaced the fan switch this weekend. one of the fans is definatly working not sure about the other fan but it is still over heating. is absolutly fine when idling in the driveway but driving it up the road it soon overheats then will drop down then over heat again. any sugestions? mikuni
Possibly blocked radiator or stuffed water pump. Not fan if it's ok idling. He higher revs and more flow are when it isn't cooling, which is usually related to blocked cooling system or a water pump with a fin/s missing. Awesome by the way. I didn't know things existed! What engine is it? Does it go alright?
drtydog
engine is a c20a-t i have yet to have it running well enough to fully test it out lol well i guess it might be time for a full overhaul of the cooling system, then on to the next problem
DB8-TypeR
Only one fan will go, the other is for the A/C. Does it just have an air lock in the cooling system? Or is the thermostat sticking?
drtydog
that is what i'm currently thinking, the issue is the thermostat is underneath the turbo making it difficult to get to. might have to pop into honda and price up a thermostat tomorow
DB8-TypeR
Just go onto the Honda NZ Website and go to the parts section, enter your chassis number and it will list all parts available and retail price

drtydog
update time. a little more digging has uncovered the main cooling fan has no power to it. i'm guessing a relay problem as i cant find any blown fuses but will have to do some more digging. anyway keen to help me get it running good for the dec cruise? lol anyway some more pictures cause this thred is gettng boring (and the mrs got a new camera to play with any my little side project to tow behind the honda once its running better
drtydog
god damn it found a new water leak coming from somewhere under the turbo...guess i'm going to have to delve beneath the surface of the factory mess of wiring and vacuum hoses...still havnt figured out the fan either
flyingbrick
just take an hr to wire in new fan circuit and relay with temp controller?
drtydog
I really want to get it working as it was from factory besides this new water leak has put a new spin on things being on sch a place that i have to pull half the engine bay to pieces to even see it
Dell'orto
A guy I used to work with years ago had one of these, and I remember it always used to overheat too. Cool cars though!
