two_days_late
Bolted up the engine to the cross-member on the floor of the workshop. The mounts are sitting right at the very top of the cross-member, they are in and bolted up tight but it just doesn't look right to me. My question is, is this safe, and is it going to mess with the angles of my drive-train? I'm assuming its not right. With the old ones the rubber is about 1cm shorter than the new ones. There was a steel spacer on the side of the block between the mount so I just assumed that leaving this out would mean the new ones fit in right. Should I just drill some new holes in the mount bracket further to the top?
My name is Russell
How far is the crossmember from the sump?
Escorto.
Escorts have two different sized engine mount brackets as well as rubbers. looks like you have the longer ones. you need the shorter ones to use those rubbers. Engine is way to high in that photo, doubtful the gearbox would fit in the tunnel.
two_days_late
Cross-member is miles away from the sump... Yea looks like i need to get some shorter mounts. Dammit.
My name is Russell
The shorter ones still wouldn't make up for that amount of gap would they? I always liked the look of these mounts http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 860683.htm could just chop and weld current mounts to suit? Raizer
Thats sitting miles high! What are the rubbers made for? They look a lot taller than Cortina ones
Escorto.
They look like the cortina / rx7 ones. Bout 50mm thick.
sholdowa
711M mounts are shorter than 681F. All are unequal lengths, the longer one being on the drivers side. the rubbers should fit in the original slot on the xmember, not on top of it. Conversion to world cup may be an alternative? two_days_late
Rubbers are apparently for a MK2 Escort. Ah well I'll just get some shorter ones I think.
