dylann
Pulling the head off a bluetop 4age at the moment, and the final obstacle is said lower timing belt cover, cant seem to get it off, have had a quick search of the interwebs but to no avail. Following an engine manual Ive undone all the bolts, taken the upper cover off, and its just not keen on coming out of its hole, is there something im overlooking? Just wanting to get to the tensioner, all help appreciated Cheers, Dylan
Simon
They are a total prick. I always just cut them in one place which allows you to bend the plastic more. Get angry with it.
dylann
sweet that sounds good haha, wasnt sure if i should mangle it or not, thanks
ryanfels
Do they not need the crank pulley to come off?
Simon
Yep. Or you can cut it in two places and leave it on haha.
Seedy Al
why would you not take the crank puuly off i have never had a problem personally haha
dylann
I thought it would be too big of a job with the engine being in the car, and limited tools, might have to anyway as it appears the seal is leaking. Anyway i did get the tensioner undone, but now i have a spanner lodged in between said tensioner, and the something on the side of that. cheers for the help! LingLing
here is the link for bluetop manual. http://files.aeu86.org/manuals/4A-GEManual.pdf not exact, depending on your one is rear or front wheel. but the cover bit should be the same. I have only taken top and middle cover off, can't really say much sorry.
dylann
cheers andy but ive already got a manual, doesnt really help much in the way of taking this part off though. Just wanted some personal opinions/experience info. thanks
kpr
top easy. middle sometimes hooks on something on inlet side, give it a yank.. bottom = crank pulley off. only need to do that if changing cam belt/front seal/ oil pump.
