BlownCorona
hey roy, ill make some visits to some local places. otherwise ill be in contact. thanks. on a side not, i think djz works at an engineering place? not angling for a deal, just like throwing business to people that i know. if you see this, let me know, same goes for other guys on here that may work in a suitable shop. BlownCorona
it appears that most shops are closed over the new year, so ill put this on hold for a couple weeks.
DJZ
Nah, we aren't engineering. The guys next door to us are but they are closed atm. I need someone to mill a manifold flange flat for me if you do find somebody that's open.

bubblegoose
1.3-1.5 off the head you have an insane squish clearance better to get 1mm taken off the barrel first then re-measure and have the head machined to suit
BlownCorona
taken off the mating surface on the barrel? how would i go about measuring squish? i haven't been able to find any info on the net that dosnt require already knowing what squish is. 10Speed
is this on a FA50? if so I believe 2mm off the bottom of the cylinder is a better option... apparently the ports are still partially covered by the piston a bdc... (Bubblegoose may correct me on this) [edit] I had brain fart... you'd need to raise the height of the cylinder (extra base gaskets) and then machine even more off your head/top of the cylinder to compensate... BlownCorona
sorry, should have clarified, this is on my Yamaha v50. the fa50 may benefit from some treatment like this in the future so thats still pretty good to know!
