Stacov
So my 1600 is getting pretty tired in the esky just chucking up weather to keep it 1600 or chuck in a 2l pinto i have a full pinto setup my panel van, just trying to decide to rip it out or not lol , but im guessin the exhaust and the driveshalf will be heaps longer then the 4door? can any1 confirm that cheers
Stacov
just had a look at the panel van yep seems heaps more longer then the 4door lol so i take it stealing the 1 peice driveshalf off that is out of the question unless i get it shorten
Raizer
Should be shorter than the 4 door one if its got a pinto box. Stock it would have been the exact same length as the 4 door Your van has the same wheelbase as your 4 door man. Edit: Did you know that all mk1 and mk2 vans and Estates are built on a mk1 2 door floor pan?
Stacov
That i didnt know, Would of thought something would be different they seem heaps longer but hey if i can raid all that crap out of the panel van, driveshaft, exhaust etc.. that would be a bonus! been sitting for awhile has a good motor in it feels abit wasted atm lol
Raizer
Main differences between mk1 2 door and mk1 van or estate are all pretty obvious things like the roof & tail lights, even the doors are the same. Difference between mk1 and 2 vans is pretty minimal too, just slam panel, slightly different guards to take the bigger grill, mk2 bonnet/gauges/steering column and suspension. Off topic but if I ever own another Escort plan is mk1 2 door with mk2 van/estate guards, slam panel and dash to make a mk1.5 just to piss purists off
Stacov
Anyone able to recommend a exhaust shop in palmy north ? i know theres pitstop and manawatu mufflers looking at a full exhaust extractors back Motor is workd 1600 cam, ported head / sidedraught carbie what would be a good size 2" ? whats the tyical setup resonator 1 muffler? i want best performance and a good sound cheers
14fast
Hi Stacov, in regards to your last post on your project have a look at the size ot the jets in side the carb, if the carbs come straight from the 2l it might be dumping to much fuel in. Sounds like its loading up at low rpm (your flat spot). 1600 should be running smaller jets than the 2.0l, or maybe try a smaller carb 28/32. Also check the plugs if they black its a sign that your running to rich.
