ryanfels
Im doing a manual conversion on my cousins VH wagon at the moment. He brought the bits for it a couple of months ago and was just waiting for me to get my car rolling again before we started it. Now in that few months the pressure plate has had some rust develop and caused a few spots to pitt (so im told as i havent seen the pressure plate since he brought it). Will it still be good to use if there is only a few spots like he said or will we have to get another one?
CaMpylobacter
secondhand clutch kit? the 'do it properly' guy in me says never use a secondhand clutch, esp if you intend on keeping the vehicle for some time. the other guy says, sand and clean it down and uit'll be sweet. doubt it's pitted. fuel
depends how deep the pitting is really. I would be inclined to use it still as it wouldn't have grooves in it etc from the clutch wearing. Surely the pitting is only surface rust, unless he literally had it sitting outside next to the sea? *edit* assuming the pressure plate he has was new but sitting, rather than 2nd hand. KKtrips
Slam it in and do a heavy clutch slip launch - she'll be good as new..

KKtrips
Give rough sand and do a heavy clutch launch - it'll be fine.. PS - thats why you don't clean off the anti rust coating till just before installing it.. LOL
